Dear Mayor Muldoon and Councilmembers:
RE: #12 City Council Agenda for July 26, 2022 - Visit Newport Beach, Inc Business Plan
and Budget - Attachment A pg. 67 - SEE ATTACHED
My comment is regarding the lack of inclusion of property management companies who
manage short term vacation rentals on any of Visit Newport Beach Inc's boards or
committees. It is my opinion that vacation rental property management companies should be
included in the tourism discussion as we are a vital part of the economy - especially when
looking at the economy of the Peninsula!
I respectfully ask that the Council encourage Visit Newport Beach Inc. to reach out to any
number of property management companies that manage short term rentals and recruit a
representative to be included on a board or committee. We have a lot to offer to the discussion
and I know that we would benefit from a closer relationship with Visit Newport Beach, Inc.
Thank you for your time.
Regards,
Julia Morton, Realtor

Ms. Franceschini:
Budget /accounting
This budget does not show the comparative with FY 2022, so readers understand the directional change and relative
scope of the budget.
Advertising Expense: The VNB Budget shows an allocation for Advertising of $2.8M in FY 2023, and $1.24M in FY 2024.
-Can you please provide more background information on this expenditure?
-What is the reason for this expenditure, at this level?
Additionally, there are no explanatory notes included with the budget, so the reader has no context for reviewing the
revenue or expenditures.
Example: Where will $1.9M in Paid Advertising be spent?
Utilization of Carryover Cash: This $16M equivalent to the Utilization of Carryover Cash (not reserve funds) of $1.6 M. Is
the Carryover Cash use related to the Advertising expense?
This is equivalent to the Utilization of Carryover Cash (not reserve funds) of $1.6 M.
What is the definition of Carryover Cash?
What policies or restrictions does the City have on the Use of Carryover Cash?
Thank you
Laura Curran
