Neighborhood Traffic Study completed in
October 2019.
19 Petition circulated in 2020 and signed by over
®WI 60 percent of Mariners neighborhood residents.
HISTORY
Over 70 percent of Highland Drive residents

Project approved by City Council January 12,
2021.
Speed cushions, striping and signage installed in
��: summer 2021.
"Before speed cushions" measured
85th percentile speed = 31- 37 mph.
"After speed cushions" measured 85th
percentile speed = 25 - 30 mph.
Consistent with national studies
(FHWA) with 6 mph - 9 mph reduction.
Project resulted in a Reduction of
Neighborhood Speeds as desired.

RELOCATION OR REMOVAL
Two properties located between existing speed cushion and Mariners
Drive did not sign petition. Criteria for location not met. Relocation
would be difficult.
• Removal would cause the speeds to revert back toward the original
speeds. An increase of 6 — 9 mph.
• Based on history, neighborhood support, location criteria and speed
reduction, staff recommends to maintain speed cushion in existing
location.
