Major Changes in Standards
State Law
• Increased Height limits for Detached ADUs
• 16' for single-family or multi -family
• 18' with multi -family, multi -story
• 18' if located within %2 mile to transit (regardless of zone)
• 2' additional to match roof pitch of main home
• Recommendation for Detached ADUs
• 18' flat roofs/20' sloping roofs (3:12 pitch)
• Simplifies a complicated code (reduces errors)

as required by underlying zoning district-
b. Attached. Accessory dwelling units and junior accessory dwelling units attached to
an existing or proposed single -unit cr multi -unit dwelling shall comply with the height
limit as required by underlying zoning district.
