SUBJECT: APPLICATION FOR FUNDS
RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt a resolution authorizing the staff to
apply for funds under Title V of the Older
Americans Act for renovations and alterations
to the south wing and the administrative office
at the OASIS Center.
DISCUSSION:
When the south wing and the administrative office at OASIS are vacated by
Carden School later this month, a certain amount of renovation and remodel-
ing will have to be done prior to occupancy by the senior citizens.
Funds for this type of refurbishment are available on a 75%-25% basis
through the Older Americans Act. It is estimated that $12,000 will be
necessary to complete the renovations, with the City's share being $2,000
in cash and $1,000 in in -kind services. The Title V Grant will provide
the balance amount of $9,000.
A list of the proposed renovations is attached for your review.
In requesting the funds, the City agrees to use the facility as a senior
citizen multipurpose building for not less than three years after the
contract date of September 30, 1979.
