PLANTING NOTES
1.DRAWING IS DIAGRAMMATIC. VERIFY ALL LOCATIONS AND CONDITIONS ON SITE. COUNT ALL PLANT
MATERIAL BEFORE BIDDING.
2.CONTRACTOR SHALL REVIEW ALL UTILITY PLANS AND BE FAMILIAR WITH THE WORK OF OTHER
TRADES AND SUB-CONTRACTORS.
3.CONTRACTOR SHALL INSPECT ALL SITE CONDITIONS AND LOCATE ALL UTILITY LOCATIONS AND
APPURTENANCES IN THE FIELD PRIOR TO THE START OF WORK. ANY CONFLICTS OR
DISCREPANCIES WITH PLANT MATERIAL LOCATIONS SHALL BE BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF
THE LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT IMMEDIATELY. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ONLY MAKE THE NECESSARY
ADJUSTMENTS TO PLANT PLACEMENT WITH PRIOR APPROVAL OF THE OWNER'S AUTHORIZED
REPRESENTATIVE IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE OPTIMUM DESIGN INTENT.
4.IF CONFLICTS ARISE BETWEEN SIZE OF AREAS AND PLANS, CONTRACTOR TO CONTACT
LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT FOR RESOLUTION. FAILURE TO MAKE SUCH CONFLICTS KNOWN WILL
RESULT IN CONTRACTOR'S LIABILITY TO RELOCATE SUCH MATERIALS. CONTRACTOR TO VERIFY
EXACT QUANTITIES OF ALL PLANT MATERIAL NECESSARY.
5.ANY PLANT DEEMED NOT AVAILABLE BY THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE NOTED IN PLANTING
SUBMITTAL ALONG WITH A PLANTING SUBSTITUTIONS IN ACCORDANCE WITH SPECIFICATIONS.
6.IT IS THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO FURNISH PLANT MATERIALS FREE OF PESTS OR
PLANT DISEASES.
7.PRE-SELECTED OR 'TAGGED' MATERIAL MUST BE INSPECTED BY THE CONTRACTOR AND CERTIFIED
PEST AND DISEASE FREE. IT IS THE CONTRACTOR'S OBLIGATION TO WARRANTY ALL PLANT
MATERIALS.
8.CONTRACTOR SHALL CONFIRM SOURCE OF ALL PLANT MATERIAL. ALL PLANT MATERIAL OF SAME
SPECIES SHALL BE FROM A SINGLE SOURCE.
9.ALL PLANT MATERIAL SHALL BE APPROVED BY LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT ON SITE PRIOR TO
INSTALLATION. FINAL LOCATION OF ALL PLANT MATERIAL SHALL BE SUBJECT TO APPROVAL AT THE
DISCRETION OF THE LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT PRIOR TO INSTRUCTION.
10.MAINTENANCE PERIOD MAY NOT BEGIN UNTIL ALL SPECIFIED PLANTING AND IRRIGATION
MATERIALS ARE INSTALLED.
11.WORK BY OTHER TRADES, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, GUARDRAIL INSTALLATION, LIGHTING,
AND EXTERIOR PAINTING, THAT MAY INTERFERE WITH INSTALLED PLANT MATERIAL MUST BE
COMPLETE PRIOR TO THE START OF PLANTING. CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
IN-KIND REPLACEMENT OF PLANT MATERIAL DAMAGED BY CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY.
12.GRADES SHALL BE APPROVED BY THE OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE PRIOR TO PLANTING OF PLANT
MATERIALS. PERFORM FINE GRADING IN ALL PLANTING AREAS AND COORDINATE FINISH GRADE
TO ALLOW MULCH AS INDICATED IN SPECIFICATIONS.
13.PLACEMENT AND LAYOUT OF PLANT MATERIALS SHOWN ON DRAWINGS IS DIAGRAMMATIC. THE
LAYOUT OF PLANT MATERIALS SHALL BE APPROVED BY THE LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT PRIOR TO
INSTALLATION OF PLANT MATERIALS IN ACCORDANCE WITH SPECIFICATIONS.
14.AFTER PLANTING IS COMPLETE, FURNISH AND SPREAD MULCH OVER ENTIRE PLANTED AREA, IN
ACCORDANCE WITH SPECIFICATIONS, UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED ON DRAWINGS. CONTRACTOR
SHALL PROVIDE THE AMOUNT OF MULCH AND/OR DECORATIVE ROCK NECESSARY TO COVER THE
ENTIRE PLANTING AREA AND ALL AREAS NOT IDENTIFIED AS TURF OR PAVING AREAS ON
DRAWINGS AND SPECIFICATIONS.
15.CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PLANT ESTABLISHMENT ON THE ENTIRE SITE FOR
THE DURATION OF THE CONTRACT AND PLANT ESTABLISHMENT PERIOD, AS INDICATED IN THE
SPECIFICATIONS, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, ALL WATERING, MOWING, EDGING, TRIMMING,
PRUNING, WEEDING, FERTILIZING, AND KEEPING ALL PLANT MATERIAL (BOTH EXISTING AND NEW)
IN HEALTHY GROWING CONDITIONS AND NEAT AND ATTRACTIVE IN APPEARANCE. REPLACE ALL
DEAD AND/OR DAMAGED PLANT MATERIAL ON A WEEKLY BASIS.

8. IT IS THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO BECOME FAMILIAR WITH GRADE DIFFERENCES, AND LOCATION OF WALLS, RETAINING WALLS,
ETC., AND MUST COORDINATE WORK WITH GENERAL CONTRACTOR AND OTHER SUB-CONTRACTORS FOR LOCATION AND INSTALLATION OF
PIPE SLEEVES THROUGH WALLS, UNDER ROADWAYS, PAVING, STRUCTURES, ETC.
9. CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR INSTALLING AND COORDINATING ALL PIPE SLEEVES AND SEPARATE CONTROL WIRE SLEEVES,
INCLUDING SLEEVES WITHIN PAVING AND AT EXPANSION JOINTS. ALL SLEEVES MUST BE FULLY COORDINATED WITH STRUCTURAL CONCRETE
AND PAVING CONTRACTORS PRIOR TO THE INSTALLATION OF PAVING.
10. THE FOLLOWING SHOULD BE NOTED REGARDING PIPE SIZING: IF A SECTION OF UNSIZED LATERAL IS LOCATED BETWEEN TWO
IDENTICALLY SIZED SECTIONS THE UNSIZED SECTION SHALL BE OF THE SAME SIZE. IN NO CASE SHALL A SECTION OF PIPE BE SMALLER THAN
ANY DOWNSTREAM SECTION LOCATED ON THE SAME LATERAL RUN.
11. THE IRRIGATION CONTRACTOR SHALL TURN OVER ALL OPERATING KEYS AND SERVICING TOOLS NEEDED FOR COMPLETE ACCESS,
ADJUSTMENT, AND REPAIR OF ALL IRRIGATION SYSTEM COMPONENTS TO THE OWNER, AS STATED IN SPECIFICATIONS.
DRIP IRRIGATION NOTES
1. PROVIDE DRIP TUBING TO ALL PLANT MATERIAL SERVED BY DRIP IRRIGATION SYSTEM IN ACCORDANCE WITH MANUFACTURER'S GUIDELINES.
2. DRIP EMITTER ZONING IS INTENDED TO IRRIGATE PLANT MATERIAL BY PLANT TYPE IN ORDER TO APPLY APPROPRIATE AMOUNTS OF WATER
AS NEEDED FOR PROPER PLANT GROWTH AND PLANT CARE. EXCEPTIONS TO PLANT MATERIAL SYSTEM SEPARATIONS WOULD BE NOTED ON
PLANS.
3. VERIFICATION OF PLANT MATERIAL QUANTITIES AND NUMBER OF EMITTERS PER VALVE STATION IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE
CONTRACTOR.
4. DRIP IRRIGATION LINES ARE SHOWN DIAGRAMMATICALLY, FOR CLARITY. INSTALL ALL PIPING IN LANDSCAPE PLANTING AREAS.
5. INSTALL POLYETHYLENE DRIP TUBE WITHIN PVC SLEEVE WHEN ROUTING UNDER PAVED SURFACES OR THROUGH PLANTER WALLS.
6. REFER TO PLANTING LEGEND FOR PLANT MATERIAL NAMES, ABBREVIATIONS, SPECIFIC SIZES, ON-CENTER SPACING AND ADDITIONAL
INFORMATION.
7. PROVIDE ONE (1) FLUSH/TEST-VALVE ASSEMBLY AS SHOWN ON PLAN, AND IN EACH PLANTER OR DRIP SECTION AS RECOMMENDED BY
TUBING MANUFACTURER. LOCATE FLUSH/TEST-VALVE ASSEMBLY BOXES ADJACENT TO PLANTING BORDERS OR PAVING EDGES FOR
MAINTENANCE CONVENIENCE IF POSSIBLE.
8. THE MAXIMUM VELOCITY THROUGH LATERAL PIPE & DRIPLINE MUST NOT EXCEED 5 FEET PER SECOND. DUE TO THE SCHEMATIC NATURE OF
THE DRIP IRRIGATION LAYOUT THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE TO VERIFY FLOWS THROUGH ALL DRIP ZONE LATERALS AND VALVES.
9. A SINGLE DRIPLINE TUBE, OR COMBINATION OF SEVERAL DRIPLINE TUBES ORIGINATING FROM ONE DRIPLINE TUBE, MUST NOT EXCEED
MAXIMUM RUN AS PUBLISHED BY DRIPLINE MANUFACTURER.
10. THOROUGHLY FLUSH LATERALS BEFORE MAKING CONNECTIONS. FLUSH DRIPLINE TUBING DURING CONNECTION OF FITTINGS. FLUSH
THROUGH FLUSH VALVE AFTER MAKING CONNECTIONS, FOLLOWING MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDATIONS.
11. SUPPLY HEADERS AND EXHAUST HEADERS MADE OF DRIPLINE MAY BE SUBSITUTED FOR PVC HEADERS PROVIDED THE WATER DEMAND
SERVED BY THE HEADER IS LESS THAN 5 GPM.
