Hi Chelsea,
The Department has discussed the temporary wall constructed without permission at 1924 Galaxy and extending onto
the Upper Newport Bay Ecological Reserve following a landslide adjacent to this property. The Department understands
that the temporary wall may be required to stabilize the home at 1924 Galaxy Drive and will not require it to be
modified or removed without review by the California Department of General Services and that review confirms that the
wall can be modified or removed without destabilizing the slope or endangering the home. The Department
understands that the owners at 1924 Galaxy Drive are working on a permanent engineering soluƟon, but that part or all
of the temporary wall may need to remain. If it is determined that it needs to remain, we can discuss the need for an
easement and remediaƟon of the slope with the property owner and the City of Newport Beach, as appropriate.
Please let me know if you have any quesƟons.
Thank you,
