Our building plans have entered a definitive stage and we here- with submit plans 1128A, as an amendment to permit #1128 for your approval on the modifications resulting from limitations of available financing indicating development to complete these plans as attached. 2. In view of grading differentials not previously considered, we would like to have your interpretation regarding the placement of concrete block walls and related property improvements to serve as barriers between the YMCA property and neighboring residents along both the North and West property lines. Prompt clarification of these items will enable our architects to complete detailed design based upon these preliminary plans and enable us to proceed with the completion of grading and site developments including the required walls as per approved location and design. Thank you for your cooperation in bringing this matter before the Commission on July 7th. The proposed development consists of covering an existing swimming pool wit an air supported structure 24 feet t in height. Furthermore, parking lot lights not exceeding 18 feet ± in height are proposed where the original approval permitted said fixtures not to exceed 4 feet in height. Location: Parcel No. 1 of Parcel Map 3-35 (Resubdivision No. 211) located at 2300 University Drive, on the north easterly side of University Drive, easterly of Irvine Avenue, adjacent to the Anniversary Estates residen- tial development. Zone: R-1 Applicant: Orange Coast Y.M.C.A. Owner: Same as Applicant Public hearing was opened in connection with this matter. Jim deBoom, Executive Director of the Orange County Y.M.C.A., resident of 1743 Bayport Drive, Newport Beach, appeared before the Commission in connection with this matter and concurred with the staff report and recommendations. He commented on their desire to install the pool cover as soon as possibl in order to facilitate the use of the pool during the remaining cold months ahead. He also commentet on the need for the parking lot lights because of the safety factor involved. He answered questions of the Commission relative to this request. Steven Abaum, 2269 Golden Circle, appeared before the Commission in opposition to the request for the 18 foot high lights in the parking lot because they will shine into his bedrooms and illuminate his entire back yard. Cynthia Brown, 2275 Golden Circle, appeared before the Commission in opposition to the proposed parkil lot lights because of the illumination which will Page 6.
