Since Covecrest is now not an actual street and since your parcel abuts Pelican Crest Drive, we are hereby changing your address to 21 Pelican Crest Drive. We will notify City departments; however, it is your responsibility to advise all other affected agencies such as utilities, the United States Postal Service, the Orange County Assessor, etc. Also, please be sure to inform your local telephone service carrier so any "911" responses are dispatched to a valid address. Address numbers should be at least four inches high, of contrasting color to their background and clearly visible.from the street. Covecrest apparently was going to be a separate street with several lots, however, this homeowner bought all lots and the street and built one home on all this property. The property line starts at Pelican Crest Drive. Since there really is no street for anyone to drive onto, it makes sense to me that his property be addressed to Pelican Crest Drive. The next logical number would be 19... however, next to the property in question, there is another home addressed 19 Sailcrest. 1. Would you be in favor of changing the address from 1 Covecrest to 19 Pelican Crest Drive? 2. Would you prefer another house number? 3. Leave as is? Paul Merage, the owner of the property at I Covecrem, Newport Beach, CA, has asked me investigate what would be required to have the address changed to a Pelican Crest street number. Covecrest was originally a cul-de-sac off Pelican Crest Drive near the intersection of Sailcrest Drive. Mr. Merage purchased the street along with the six lots that were serviced by it and constructed his home and is now residing there. There are several reason why he is investigating changing the address: 1. The street, which is now his driveway, differs from the other streets in the area in that it is not asphalt but cobblestone. 2. Online search engines like Google do not identify Covecrest so his guests have trouble finding his home and he has had trouble getting some delivers. If you could let me know what the process to change the address would be I would appreciate it. Thank you in advance for your help in this matter. I have forwarded your request to several departments within the City that need to review address changes. Once I've receive their responses, I'll e-mail you with the City's decision. If approved, we will send Mr. Merage a letter letting him know that his address has been changed officially. If you prefer to receive that letter on his behalf, that is all right. This is the guy who sold the "Hot Pockets" food business to Nestle, and obviously made a few dollars. What about "21 Pelican Crest Drive"? That way, it won't be confused with the "19 Sailcrest" address next door..... Just a thought. We own a duplex in Corona Del Mar that is a top -bottom unit. There is no front and back unit. We have lived there since 1995 but only started renting the downstairs in 2004. We used to have our in-laws living downstairs so we didn't have any reasons to get picky about the meter readings, etc. As we are the master tenants and the top unit is the larger unit we have designated the top unit as the whole number or 507 and the bottom "rental" unit as 507 %. This has not created a problem for the postmaster, however, the utility company apparently has been billing our tenant for the upstairs and we have been paying the downstairs utility. Although they have been made aware of the mix-up they request that the City provide the paperwork that establishes that the upstairs is 507 before they will modify their billing and meter information.
