Dec 03 15:06 1993 uti105:/users/rod/memos/Sheraton Page 1 12/3/93 To: Patty Temple, Advance Planning From: Rod Murphy, Fire Dept Sub ect: Address Sequence for MacArthur Blvd and Birch St Patty, On 11 /29/93 Newport Engine 3 responded to a 911 call at 4533 MacArthur Blvd. According to the incident report filled by Capt. Mals, they found a building addressed 4301 MacArthur Blvd and the next building 4545 MacArthur Blvd (the Sheraton Hotel). At this point he asked dispatch to recheck the address number. He was informed by dispatch that 4533 MacArthur Blvd was located next to 4647 MacArthur Blvd (Tabbies), across Birch Street from 4545 MacArthur Blvd (please see accompanying maps) and apparently out of sequence. According to the incident report this caused a cTelay of approximately 2 minutes on this EMS (Emergency Medical Services) call. On 12/3/93 Chief Arnold asked me to try to make sense of the addressing in this area. I found that 4545 MacArthur Blvd, the Sheraton Hotel, is numbered out of sequence. The Sheraton Hotel does not have an entrance or driveway on MacArthur Blvd, the main driveway and front of building entrance are located on Birch St. Therefore, the address for this lot should be 4300 Birch St. 4445 MacArthur Blvd would be the correct number sequence for this lot If It had a MacArthur Blvd entrance. Furthermore, I could not find any address numbers visible from either MacArthur Blvd or Birch St on the building or the entrance area for the Sheraton Hotel, as per the Municipal Code for the City of Newport Beach chapter 13.12.210. The Fire Dept wants to -see this situation corrected as soon as possible. Therefore, Tom Arnold and I would like to meet with you to discuss this problem.
