abused, neglected and abandoned children. The group recruits, trains, and supports volunteers who serve as
"Court AppointedSpecialAdvocates" ("CASA'); and
`Wr a AS, for over four decades, CASA OC has been serving the most vulnerable kids in OC who move
through the child welfare system as a result of abuse and neglect; and
UNIREAS, ensuring that the thousands of children and young adults in the foster care system have
advocates is a huge boon for them and society at -large; and
UVEUAS, nationalstudies have shown that 92% of children with CASA volunteers willgraduate from
high school, while only 58% of children who age -out of foster care widgraduate high school,• and
UNI UAS, 35 dedicated CASA volunteers reside here in Newport Beach; and
`W & AS, CASA volunteers commit to a minimum of two years with a youth in the child welfare system.
Each volunteer undergoes extensive training to learn Flow to best connect with their youth. CASAs will often
assist their youth in navigating the complex child welfare system while balancing school and home life; and
WlaUAS, Way is national foster care month and the City of .Newport Beach expresses its appreciation
for CASA of Orange County and its many volunteers and encourages more residents to step up to serve our
vulnerable children;
