Dear Mr. and Mrs. Burke:
In accordance with the request of your contractor, this final soils report has been prepared to
address geotechnical observations and testing performed since completion of rough grading. This
report addresses requested observations and testing. Copies of our daily reports are maintained in
our files.
FOUNDATION EXCAVATIONS
The rear retaining wall foundation consisted of a pile and gradebeam system, and was observed on
April, 13, 2022. A total of 20 piles, ranging in depth from 23 to 24 feet below existing grade and
founded into bedrock were drilled by Drilco and observed between March 1, 2022 and March 21,
2022. The pile and gradebeam foundation excavations for the residence were observed between
March 22, 2022 and April 26, 2022. A total of 65 piles were drilled by Drilco, ranging in depth
from 23 to 26 feet below grade and founded into bedrock. The foundations and gradebeams
connected with piles were observed during the time of the slab subgrade observations. A total of 7
column pad footings along the southern property line were observed on December 28, 2023 and
January 10, 2024. The bio retention planter bottom along the southern side of the property was
observed on January 10, 2024 and March 18, 2024. The foundation excavations were found to be
acceptable at the time of our final observation.
SLAB SUBGRADE AND TRENCH BACKFILLS
The interior slab subgrade was observed on June 22, 2022 and June 24, 2022. The patio subgrade
at the rear of the residence was observed on July 8, 2022. Probing and testing of the interior

residential slab areas indicated acceptable geotechnical conditions for support of the proposed
slab, at the time of our final observation.
SUBDRAINS AND RETAINING WALL BACIUML
The subdrain system behind the rear retaining wall was observed on May 12, 2022, consisted of a
four -inch diameter SDR 35 perforated pipe, surrounded with one cubic foot, per lineal pipe foot,
of 3/4-inch gravel. The gravels were wrapped in filter fabric.
Wall backfill in the areas above the subdrains were observed. Probing and testing of the
compacted backfill indicated acceptable geotechnical conditions.
POOL
The pool/spa pile foundation system was observed from May 27, 2022 through June 2, 2022. The
pool pile foundation consisted of ten piles measuring 33 to 34 feet from existing grade and
founded into bedrock. The pool bottom was observed on June 28, 2022, and found to be
acceptable at the time of our final observation.
HARDSCAPE
The hardscape subgrade in the rear yard area was observed on December 27, 2023. The hardscape
subgrades for the driveways were observed on April 3, 2024. The hardscape subgrade for the front
walkway entry was observed on May 2, 2024. The hardscape subgrade for the side walkways
along the residence were observed on May 24, 2024. Probing and testing of the requested
hardscape area subgrade indicated acceptable geotechnical conditions for support of the proposed
hardscape.
OPINION
It is opinion of COAST GEOTECHNICAL, INC. that the summarized geotechnical conditions
approved by this office are in compliance with approved geotechnical reports and Newport Beach
building codes. The final grades appear to conform to approved plans.
