Resulting in the most astounding low prices for waterfront property of this high
type ever known in the history of California real estate.
60'-' to 80% of former prices lopped off. A move compelled by circumstances hav-
ing nothing to do with the physical development of this magnificent island colony.
NOTHING CHANGED AT LIDO ISLE
EXCEPT PRICE
BUT WHAT A DIFFERENCE THAT MAKES
1 All the splendid original plans for the development of this unique island have now hem
fulfilled in minute detail. IT STANDS COMPLETED, ready for immediate use ... all
improvements of the very finest class COMPLETELY INSTALLED NOW, the same
protective restrictions still in force, destined to make LIDO ISLE the outstanding veaside
commui. ;tv on the west coast. Everyone in Southern California who knows this property
and who has any concept.on of actual property values will jump at this opportunity. Just

Dear Bill,
Council Members
Michelle Barto
Noah Blom
I hope this note finds you well. I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your
Robyn Grant
fascinating presentation on the history of Lido Isle at the recent Council meeting.
Sara J. Weber
Erik Kenneth Weigand
Once again, you managed to bring our city's past to life in such a vivid and
compelling way. It is a joy to have you present to us.
It was especially surprising to learn that, in the beginning, no one wanted to buy a
home there. It's almost hard to imagine now, given how sought-after and iconic Lido
Isle has become. That perspective made the story all the more compelling - a
reminder of how vision and persistence can shape not just a neighborhood, but a
lasting sense of place. I'm know we all wish we'd had the chance to buy the entire
island for $750,000!
Your ability to weave together historical context with personal stories and lesser -
known facts made for a truly engaging experience. It's a rare talent to make history
feel not only relevant but essential to understanding who we are as a community.
You've certainly sparked more curiosity and conversation - I wouldn't be surprised if
people are already digging deeper into the Isle's past on their own!
Thank you again for sharing your time and expertise with us. We're grateful for your
dedication to preserving Newport's rich history and for the meaningful way you help
us connect with it. It's a gift to have you in our midst, and we look forward to hearing
more as we continue to Celebrate Newport.
Warm regards,
41-
