' MT", Public Works professionals' dedication to the planning, construction andmaintenance of ourpublic infrastructure,
facilities, utilities, and related services that serve as the foundation of modern civilization; and are directly correlated to
and are of fundamental importance to a City's, appearance, livability, resiliency, public safety and ease of operation are
hereby recognizedandacknowledged; and
`NMT", the acknowledgement, prioritization and continued directed funding and effort to the care and good
maintenance of a City's infrastructure, facilities, utilities andrelatedservices provides the foundation support of the safety
andwell-being, quality offife andcommunity enjoyment of the resident, businesses andvisitors of City of Newport Beach;
and
'W'3f�E4�E17S, these infrastructure, facilities, utilities and services could not 6e provided without the dedicated efforts of
1Tu6lic Works professionals, comprised of engineers, managers, contractors, workers, and support employees at alllevels of
government and the private sector, who are responsible for building, improving, maintaining and protecting our nation's
transportation, water supply, water treatment and solid waste systems, public 6uildings, parks, harbors and waterways,
and other structures and facilities essential for our citizens; and
`GtMRp M, it is in the public interest for the citizens, businesses and Civic leaders of the City of Neulwrt Beach to
expand their knowledge of and maintain an ongoing priority interest in, understanding of the importance, andfunding of
the City's infrastructure, facilities, utilities and related services — together know as our " it6lic Works"- and

I encourage allcitizens to join with representatives of the American Public Works Association andgovernment agencies
in activities, events, and ceremonies designed to pay tribute to our Public Works professionals and to recognize the
substantial contributions they make to protecting our national health, safety, and advancing quality of life for all
