On the Agenda: June 24 City Council Meeting
he next meeting of the Newport Beach City Council will be on Tuesday, June 24 at 4 p.m. The full agenda is
available here.
Agenda items include:
• A study session item on preparing for the implementation of advanced air mobility. Staff and a City
consultant will discuss the rapidly developing transportation system known as Advanced Air Mobility
(AAM). AAM includes new types of aircraft and emerging technologies that have the potential to provide
additional regional and local mobility options for passengers, air cargo and emergency services. The
discussion will include potential steps the City could take to prepare in advance of the local
implementation of AAM.
• Drinking water quality report on public health goals. The California Health and Safety Code requires all
water agencies to prepare a report every three years if any water quality samples collected between
2022 and 2024 exceed a public health goal or maximum contaminant level goal. These goals are
separate from enforceable standards. The City's water system meets all state and federal drinking water
standards and complies with all maximum contaminant levels.
• A resolution to collect certain sewer and recycling fees through the property tax roll. The resolution
would allow the City to collect sewer and/or recycling fees from about 5,600 customers who do not
currently receive a water bill from the City. The California Health and Safety code allows local agencies
to collect sewer and recycling fees through the property tax roll. Enrolling these charges on the property
tax roll is a common practice, particularly in instances where a customer is not receiving water service
from the billing agency.
• Appointments to scheduled and unscheduled board and commission vacancies. The Council will
consider approving nominees to the Board of Library Trustees, Building and Fire Board of Appeals, City
Arts Commission, Civil Service Board, Harbor Commission, Parks, Beaches & Recreation Commission,
and Planning Commission.
