Report Observations:
Arrived on site to find pool sides had been excavated and dimensions widened and the deep end of the pool filled in with native materiel.
The contractor informed the inspector that they had not covered the fill placed the previous day from rain, and that the materiel had turned
to mud due to after hours rain. They stated that they had removed the mud and replaced and backfilled the deep end using native
cuttings from their excavation activities, then compacted the materiel using a tracked front end loader with a full bucket. Probing of this
placed filled using a steel soil probe indicated that this fill had not been adequately compacted, and in the deepest part penetrated over
a foot, with water and mud visible on the bottom few inches of the probe. Contractor was advised and elected to remove this wet materiel
and replace it with dryer native materiel. This was done in a single lift and compacted using the same method. Testing with the nuclear
gauge produced consistently low values for both dry density and moisture. This materiel was then re -worked using a jumping jack, and
while numbers were improved, still returned consistently low. Contractor elected to scarify the top 6" of the lift, mixing and wetting this
material, while wetting and recompacting the lower 6" using the frontend loader. This mixed materiel was then replaced and compacted
using both the loader and the jumping jack. This 12" of materiel was then tested using the nuclear gauge, and while slight improvement
was measured, the density was likely still short of 95%. The top 6" was then tested, and found to have improved dry densities that would
likely meet compaction requirements. The contractor then once again removed the upper 6", and compacted the lower 6 inches with the
jumping jack. This materiel was then tested, and found to have likely adequate compaction values. This test result has been attached,
and at the time of issue of this report, proctor results show this test as passing. The contractor was within 1' of FSG for the remaining of
the pool, and was advised that they could continue placing the remaining fill and that it could be tested upon completion, but to keep lifts
no greater than 6" in order to achieve adequate compaction levels.

2720 Pebble Dr. July 14, 2022
1.0 Introduction
At the request of Intex Design & Construction, Yanchar Design & Consulting
Group has completed field measurements and an acoustical analysis of the pool
equipment located at 2720 Pebble Dr., Newport Beach, CA.
2.0 Project Description
The property is a single-family residence. The pool equipment is located
approximately 18 inches from the nearest property line to the north.
The property to the north is also a single-family residence. The properties are
separated by a 7-foot concrete masonry wall and a 22-foot open space.
The City of Newport Beach requires a sound test by an acoustical engineer is
required to demonstrate that the noise level from the pool or spa pump is less
than 55 dBA at the property line. NBMC10.26. 025.

2.0 Field Measurements
Measurements were made at the site on July 14, 2022 to determine the sound
level of the pool equipment.
The ambient noise level at the property was dominated by aircraft overflights
and local traffic.
The sound level measured at the CMU wall was 54.8 dBA. Inverse square law
attenuation would decrease the sound level by 13 dBA at the property line.
Therefore the equipment is in compliance with the requirements of the City of
Newport Beach Municipal Code.
A Soft dB Piccolo -II Integrating Sound Level Meter, Serial Number
P0219050803 and CEL Instruments Model CEL-284/2 Calibrator, Serial Number
4/09023134, were used for the measurements.
