Home My WebLink About04 - Revision to Municipal Code Chapter 14.10 Cross-Connection Control Program - Ordinance PostingCITY OF NEWPORT BEACH PUBLIC NOTICE ORDINANCE SUMMARY NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on July 22, 2025, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach, California, will introduce an Ordinance entitled: ORDINANCE NO. 2025-12 ORDINANCE NO. 2025-12: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING CHAPTER 14.10 CROSS CONNECTION CONTROL PROGRAM OF THE NEWPORT BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE RELATED TO PREVENTION OF WATER CONTAMINATION OF THE CITY'S WATER SYSTEM Chapter 14.10 of the City's Municipal Code outlines property owners' responsibilities to protect the City's public water supply from potential and actual contamination. The Utilities Department manages the program which is currently made up of 4,000 backflow devices. Recently, the State Water Resources Control Board adopted new standards for all public water agencies related to backflow prevention and cross -connection control. Staff are now presenting the City's Cross Connection Control Management Plan and requesting City Council approval of the updated Municipal Code. This Ordinance will be introduced by the City Council of the City of Newport Beach, California, at a regular meeting thereof on the 22nd day of July, 2025. Second reading of Ordinance No. 2025-12 will occur at the August 26, 2025, City Council meeting. If adopted on August 26, 2025, the Ordinance shall become final and effective 30 days after adoption.
