Home My WebLink About03 - Prohibiting Interference with Public Access, Unpermitted Structures on Public Property and Certain Conduct on Public Property - Ordinance PostingCITY OF NEWPORT BEACH PUBLIC NOTICE ORDINANCE SUMMARY NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on July 11, 2023, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach, California, adopted an Ordinance entitled: ORDINANCE NO. 2023-11 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING CHAPTER 10.08 TO PROHIBIT INTERFERENCE WITH PUBLIC ACCESS; ADDING CHAPTER 10.14 PROHIBITING UNPERMITTED STRUCTURES ON PUBLIC PROPERTY; AND AMENDING SECTION 11.04.070 TO PROHIBIT CERTAIN CONDUCT IN PUBLIC PARKS, PARK FACILITIES AND AT PUBLIC BEACHES The Ordinance amends Newport Beach Municipal Code Chapter 10.08 (Offenses and Nuisances) to prohibit interference with public rights -of -way and increases accessibility to cancer treatment centers, colleges, schools, day care centers, business, private property, firefighting facilities, public restrooms, and bike paths. The Ordinance adds Chapter 10.14 to prohibit unpermitted physical structures used as living accommodations from being on public property. The Ordinance also amends Chapter 11.04.070 (Parks, Park Facilities, and Beaches) to prohibit certain conduct in parks, park facilities, and public beaches related to lodging in public restrooms, the use of public amenities to conduct personal hygiene, the storing of personal property, and the damaging of public property. This Ordinance was adopted by the City Council of the City of Newport Beach, California, at a regular meeting thereof on the 11'h day of July, 2023, by the following vote: AYES: Mayor Noah Blom, Mayor Pro Tern Will O'Neill, Council Member Brad Avery, Council Member Robyn Grant, Council Member Lauren Kleiman, Council Member Joe Stapleton, Council Member Erik Weigand NAYS: None The Ordinance shall become final and effective thirty (30) days after adoption.
