Bay Front Escrow # 056193-TW Dear Freedom Escrow, The above dock was inspected by the City of Newport Beach at the property mentioned above. We cannot transfer the pier permit until the following deficiencies have been corrected and the property has been re -inspected: 1. It needs a new testable Backflow Prevention Device installed (please see diagram). The Newport Beach City Municipal Code 17.60.030 states: CA. Prior to the transfer of an annual pier permit, all harbor structures shall be inspected for compliance with the City's minimum plumbing, electrical and structural requirements, and the conditions of the existing permit. All structural deficiencies must be corrected prior to the transfer of the permit. A fee will be charged for this inspection, established by Resolution of the City Council. Please call 949-644-3044 to request a reinspection. Once the property has passed reinspection and we have the signed application, the pier will be transferred. The purpose of the device is to protect the domestic water system from being contaminated by seawater or by "used" water from boat holding tanks. It is also required that this device be tested annually. You are therefore, required to install an approved Reduced Pressure Principle Backflow Device downstream of the water meter, landward of the bulkhead or hide tide line. The size of the device should match the size of the supply line, typically 3/" or 1" but sometimes larger. As soon as the installation has been completed, please contact the Harbor Resources Division at 949-644-3044 for reinspection. This device must be installed above ground Drain Required R.P.P.
