HomeMy WebLinkAboutBackflow Prevention-Reduced PressureIn accordance with Title 17 of the California Administrative Code, all piers and docks must have an approved backflow prevention device installed on the water supply line serving that pier or dock. The purpose of the device is to protect the domestic water system from being contaminated by seawater or by “used” water from boat holding tanks. It is also required that this device be tested annually. You are therefore, required to install an approved Reduced Pressure Principle Backflow Device downstream of the water meter, landward of the bulkhead or hide tide line. The size of the device should match the size of the supply line, typically ¾” or 1” but sometimes larger. As soon as the installation has been completed, please contact the Harbor Resources Division at 949-644-3044 for reinspection.
