`Gh`J,IE4tEM, we believe in the joyful, transformative power of the human -canine bond and inctusivity of aCC citizens;
and
14M�WX,4S, in the united States, 70 million adults have a disability and only 16, 000 service dogs from accredited
training programs exist nationwide and the need is growing; and
`WNIi Uf7S, Canine Companions created the concept of service dogs for people with physical disabilities 50 years ago in
1975, creating anew kind of support for disabilities; and
`GIWJiEU,9S, Canine Companions is a nonprofit organization that enhances the lives of people with disabilities by
providing expertly trainedservice dogs andongoing support to ensure quality partnerships, free of charge; and
`WXr U,9S, Canine Companions and their service dogs empower people with dsabilities to lead life with greater
independence by providing 6est-in-class training, ongoing follow-up services and a deeply committed community of
support; and
%&qA< S, %itional Service Dog _141onth aims to educate our community about the 6enefits of service dogs and the
Caws protecting their handlers; and
`G1�XIE4�Et7S, the city of Newport Beach continues to work toward becoming an inclusive community in which aCC
citizens, and their trainedservice dogs, are embraced
