NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that at its regular meeting on September 9,
2025, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach, California, approved the second reading and adopted
an Ordinance entitled:
ORDINANCE NO. 2025-20
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF NEWPORT BEACH, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING SECTION
20.48.200 (ACCESSORY DWELLING UNITS) OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE
RELATED TO ACCESSORY DWELLING UNITS AND JUNIOR ACCESSORY DWELLING UNITS
(PA2025-0093)
This Ordinance provides amendments to Title 20 (Zoning Code) and Title 21 (Local Coastal
Program Implementation Plan) to update regulations pertaining to Accessory Dwelling Units (ADU)
and Junior Accessory Dwelling Units (JADU). The amendments are intended to comply with State
ADU laws that went into effect on March 27, 2024, and January 1, 2025.
Ordinance No. 2025-20 was approved by the following vote:
AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: Barto, Grant, Kleiman, Stapleton, Weber,
and Weigand
NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: None
ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: Blom
RECUSED: COUNCILMEMBERS: None
The ordinance will become effective 30 days after adoption date. A copy of the above ordinance is available
at the City Clerk's Department, 100 Civic Center Drive, Newport Beach, California or by calling
(949) 644-3005.
