ORDINANCE SUMMARY
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on September 23, 2025, the City Council of the City of Newport
Beach, California, will introduce an Ordinance entitled:
ORDINANCE NO. 2025-28
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING SECTION
10.04.010 (DRINKING IN PUBLIC) OF CHAPTER 10.04
(INTOXICATING LIQUOR) OF THE NEWPORT BEACH
MUNICIPAL CODE RELATED TO THE POSSESSION OF
ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES
Adoption of Ordinance No. 2025-28 would amend Subsection B of Section
10.04.010 (Drinking in Public) of Chapter 10.04 (Intoxicating Liquor) of the Newport Beach
Municipal Code related to the Possession of Alcoholic Beverages to further define
Possession of an Open Container
This Ordinance will be introduced by the City Council of the City of Newport Beach,
California, at a regular meeting thereof on the 23rd day of September, 2025.
Second reading of Ordinance No. 2025-28 will occur at the October 14, 2025, City Council
meeting. If adopted on October 14, 2025, the Ordinance shall become final and effective 30 days
after adoption.
