ORDINANCE SUMMARY
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on October 14, 2025, the City Council of the City of Newport
Beach, California, adopted an Ordinance entitled:
ORDINANCE NO. 2025-30
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING SECTION
2.12.110 OF CHAPTER 2.12 (ADMINISTRATIVE
DEPARTMENTS) OF THE NEWPORT BEACH MUNICIPAL
CODE TO INCLUDE EDUCATION AND ENFORCEMENT
RELATED PROVISIONS AS A FUNCTION OF THE
RECREATION AND SENIOR SERVICES DEPARTMENT
Adoption of Ordinance No. 2025-30 would amend the Newport Beach Municipal Code
(NBMC) Chapter 2.12.110 adding enforcement of park and park facility related provisions of the
code as a function of the Recreation & Senior Services (RSS) Department. This inclusion is
necessary to apply for and execute a Management Control Agreement (MCA) between Newport
Beach Police Department (NBPD) and RSS Department and authorize Park Patrol Officers
(PPOs) use of the California Law Enforcement Telecommunication System (CLETS).
Ordinance No. 2025-30 was approved by the following vote:
AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: Barto, Blom, Grant, Kleiman, Stapleton,
Weber and Weigand
NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: None
ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: None
RECUSED: COUNCILMEMBERS: None
The ordinance will become effective 30 days after adoption date. A copy of the above ordinance
is available at the City Clerk's Department, 100 Civic Center Drive, Newport Beach, California or
by calling (949) 644-3005.
