Dear Johanna,
On behalf of the Newport Beach City Council and the entire City family,
I want to extend our deepest condolences on the loss of your father,
Tom. His passing has deeply saddened all of us who had the privilege of
working alongside him.
Tom was not only a valued member of our Public Works team for more
than a decade, but also a kind and generous person who brought
positivity and heart to every project he touched. His colleagues speak
often of his easygoing nature, his dedication to his work, and the genuine
care he showed to everyone around him.
Itwas clearto allwho knew him thatyou were his greatestjoy and source
of pride. He often shared how much he loved introducing you to the city
he helped care for, and how proud he was to watch you grow and share
in his love for the ocean, art, and music.
At our most recent City Council meeting, we adjourned in your father's
memory to honor his years of service and the lasting impression he left
on our community. His spirit, warm, creative, and full of life, will always
be remembered here in Newport Beach.
Please know that our thoughts are with you and your family during this
difficult time.
With deepest sympathy,
9 Joe Stapleton
Mayor
