35TH STREET END REPLACEMENT AT RIVO ALTO
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW --NOTICE OF DETERMINATION
A preliminary environmental review of the project for the replace-
ment of the street end at 35th Street and Rivo Alto in the City of
Newport Beach has been performed. The review was conducted in accordance
with the requirements of the California Environmental Quality Act of 1970
the State "Guidelines for Implementation of the California Environmental
Quality Act of 1970," and the City's "Policies and Procedures for Imple-
menting the California Environmental Quality Act."
The environmental statement has been reviewed and was approved by the
City's Environmental Affairs Committee.
As a result of the preliminary review, it has been determined that:
1. The project is approved.
2. The project will not have a significant effect on the
environment.
3. An environmental impact report has not been prepared.
A categorical exemption has been prepared and is
attached hereto.

Project Title:
35th Street End Replacement at Rivo Alto

Description of Nature, Purpose, and Beneficiaries -of Project:
1. Deteriorated timber and concrete bulkheads allow earth to migrate into Rivo Alto with
each tidal action, such that the 35th Street end and the adjacent residential property
west of 35th Street is undermined. A precast concrete bulkhead will be placed within
5' of the residential property bulkhead alignment and across the street end, parallel
to Rivo Alto.
2. Deteriorated 35th Street end drain valve allows high tide water to flood 35th Street
and Marcus Avenue. The 35th Street end improvements will include a new drain pipe
and valve.
