I am formally asking to deny agenda item #17 as it is not in the city's best interests to conduct private ad hoc meetings regarding potential changes to the Finance Committee. Dear Newport Beach City Council, I want to echo and underline the comments of former mayor Keith Curry about the importance of the finance committee to Newport Beach. The finance committee has enabled the city to secure the financial expertise of seasoned financial professionals. These people have served without compensation reviewing and addressing financial issues for the city. There is no lack of transparency: finance committee meetings (like all city meetings) are open to the public. We should retain and not eliminate the finance committee.
