Report phish using the Phish Alert Button above. Mayor and Councilmembers: I am pretty sure the last guy you want to hear from is me. I urge you to do yourselves and your credibility a favor and not approve the proposed changes to the finance committee. We are at a time when the council is considering an ill-conceived, expensive police station with significant environmental, operational, and permitting risk. It will cost more than $200 million when all done at the Civic Center Park location. This was put together over the Christmas holidays behind closed doors and sprung on the public in a Saturday session on January 31. The finance committee has cancelled its March and April meetings meaning no meaningful review of this project. Having a committee where all members are appointed by the mayor will reinforce in the strongest possible way the feeling in the community that the city is now being run by a four -member junta. This proposal drips with contempt for the public and makes a mockery of the announced initiatives for more "transparency". You are not fooling anyone. I understand that the tone of this email in not the professional wording that should be the norm, but I can think of no other way to convey to you how much of a mistake this is. Please do yourselves and the community a big favor and withdraw this proposal. Thank you for your consideration Keith Curry.
