NOTICE OF PROPOSED ORDINANCE
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on February 10, 2026, the City Council of the City of Newport
Beach, California, will consider adoption of the Ordinance entitled:
ORDINANCE NO. 2026-01
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH,
CALIFORNIA, AMENDING CHAPTERS 12.62 (TEMPORARY STREET CLOSURE)
AND CHAPTER 12.63 (SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT) OF THE NEWPORT BEACH
MUNICIPAL CODE RELATED TO SOLID WASTE HAULING
Ordinance No. 2026-01 proposes updates to the Newport Beach Municipal Code sections
related to commercial franchise waste hauling. These changes respond to concerns
regarding access to the commercial franchise system and flexibility for self -hauling. The
ordinance updates definitions, revises exclusion and eligibility criteria, and establishes
enforcement authority for temporary street closure permits.
A certified copy of the full text of the proposed ordinance is available for public inspection
at the Office of the City Clerk, 100 Civic Center Drive, Newport Beach CA 92660, during
regular business hours.
