An Ordinance of the City of Newport
Beach amending Section 14 of Or.'
dinance No. 189 thereof.
The Board of Trustees of the City
e Newport Beach do ordain as fol-

..Section 1.
Section -14 of Ordinance No: 189 is
hereby amended so: as to read as fol-
Section 14. -
Any person who shall violate any
of the provisions of this ordinance
Shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and
on conviction thereof shall be pun-
ished by a fine not exceeding three
hundred dollars ($300.00), or by im-
prisonment in jail for not to exceed
ninety days, or by both such fine and
imprisonment. All intoxicating liq-
uors held, possessed, or stored in the
city of .Newport Beach. for the pur-
pose of violating and with intent to
use the same in the violation of this
ordinance, shall, upon conviction of
the Person or persons so holding,
possession, or storing the same of a
diolation of this Ordinance, upon
order of the court in which such con -
vietion is had, be forthwith destroyed,
providing that no provision of this
section or of this Ordinance is in-
tended to impose or shall ever be
held or construed as Imposing or
`vesting in any court whatever juris-
diction or power to impose a Pun -
Ishment by imprisonment for any vio-
lation of this Ordinance, if Punish-
ment by imprisonment for any such
offense is in conflict with the con -,
stitution and laws of the State of
Callfornia, or of the United States,
and punishment by imprisonment
shall be imposed only for such Pub-
lic offenses committed In violation
of this ordinance as may lawfully be
Imposed by municipal corporations of
the sixth Class upon conviction for
doing the 'act or acts therein declar-
ed to be unlawful and punishable by
,this ordinance.
Section 2.
This ordinance shall be signed
by the President of the Board of
Trustees and attested by the Clerk
of the city of Newport Beach, and be
published.once Jn,NEWPORT NEWS,
a newspaper printed, published, and
circulated in the city of Newport
Beach, and it shall take effect and be
in force thirty (30) days after its
final Passage.
The above and foregoing ordinance
was regularly passed at ameeting of
the Board of Trustees held on the
17th day of September, 1923, by

OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH DECLARING
VACANT FOR PUBLIC STREET
PURPOSES A CERTAIN PORTION

WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees
