AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF
.NEWPORT BEACH IMPOSING A
LICENSE I .-PON VENDING 41A.
CHINES, AND PROVIDING A PEN-
ALTY FOR THE YON•PAYIIENT
OF S:CID LICENSE. I
The Board of Trustees of the city i
lot Newport Beach do ordain as fol-
loa:s:—
Section 1. The words "vending
maclihie" as used in tllis ordinance
are intended to mean, shall mean, and
embrac, and at all times and places
be held, construed to mean and em-1
brace any mechanical contrivance,
`apparatus or machine which, by the
operation thereof, releases or dis-
charges any article of merchandise to
or for the rise and benefit of the per-
son operating the same. and which is
operated: by the placing therein of
any coin, disk, sing, ball, or other ob-
ject.
Section 2. Every person who shall
have in his possession or under his
control any vending machine for they
purpose of using the same or of per-
mitting it to be used by another at and
within the city of Newport Beach,
without having first obtained and paid
for a l:cense from the city of ":evjport�
Beach to do so, shall ba deemed guilty

pr:sorvcnt not exceeding thirty days

This ordinance is intended to Ares

The above and foregoing ordinance
shall be published once ill NEWPORT
NEWS, a newspaper of general cir -,
culation, printed, published, and cir-
culated in the city of Newport Beach,
and shall take effect and be in force
from and after its final passage.
This Ordinance was passed at a
regular meeting of the Board of Trus -I
tees of the city of Newport Beach held
on the 17th day of Novetuber, 1924,
by the aftirmative vote of the follow-
ing named members thereof:

C. Sloau, Fred W. Young, Conrad
Richter, L. S. Wilkinson.
NOES, Trustees, none.
ABSENT, Trustees,none.
I hereby approve the foregoing or-
dinance.
