ORDINANCE NO. 499
The City of Newport Beach, by
and through its City Council, does
ordain as follows:
Section 1. It shall be unlawful
for any person to be or appear at
any public place or at any place
open to public view or on any
street, alley, highway, court, park,
railway depot, bus station, parking
lot, public beach, public water
front, water way, navigable
waters, public piers, wharfs, pub-
lic plaza, public square, or public
property in a state of drunken-
ness or intoxication, within the
corporate limits of the city of
Newport Beach, in Orange County,
California.
. Secticn 2. It shall be unlawful
for any person to be or appear on
any public premises or any private
house in a state of drunkenness
or intoxication to the annoyance
of other persons.
Section 3. Any person who shall
viclate any of the provisions of
this ordinance shall be deemed
guilty of a misdemeanor and upon
conviction thereof, shall be pun-
ished by a fine not to exceed fifty
dollars, or be confined in the City
Jail of the city of Newport Beach
for a period not to exceed twenty -
five days, cr by both such fine and
• imprisonment.
Section 4. This ordinance shall
take effect thirty (30) days from
and after its adoption, and, prior
to fifteen (15) days from the
adoption thereof, shall be pub-
lished for at least one week In
NEWPORT BALBOA NEWS -
TIMES, a newspaper published in
the City of Newport Beach, State
of California, together with the
names cf the members of the
City Council voting for and against
the same.
The above and foregoing ordl-
nance was introduced at a regular
meeting of the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach held
on the 5th day of February, 1940,
and was finally passed and adopt-
ed on the 19th day of February,
1940, by the City Council at an
adjcurned regular meeting them-
- of, by the following roll call vote,
to -wit:
AYES, Councilmen: Gordon,
Claire, Whitson, Brown, William-
son.
NOES, Councilmen: None.
ABSENT, Councilmen: None.
