ORDINANCE NO. 498,.
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY
�;OUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
14EWPORT BEACH RENAM-
ING CERTAIN STREETS IN
THE CITY OF NEWPORT
BEACH, CALIFORNIA.
The City Council of the City of
Newport Beach, California, do or-
dain as follows:
Section 1. That certain public
street known as OCEAN AVE-
NUE as said street is laid out
and shown upon a map of the
Seasbore Colony Tract, recorded
in Book 7, page 25 of Miscellane-
ous Maps, records of Orange Coun-
ty, California, as laid out and
shown upon a map of the Ocean
Front Tract, recorded in Book 4,
page 12 of Miscellaneous Maps,
records of said County, as laid
out and sbcvnr upon a map of
Third Addition to Newport Beach,
recorded in Book 3, page 31 of
Miscellaneous Maps, records of
said County, as laid out and shown
upon a map of Newport Beach,
recorded in Book 3, page 26 of
Miscellaneous Maps, records of
said County, a s laid out a n d
shown upon a map of First Addi-
tion to Newport Beacb, recorded
in Book 3, page 27 of Miscellane-
ous Maps, records of said County,
as laid out and shown upon a
map of Section 'B', Newport
Beach, recorded in Book 4, page
27 of Miscellaneous Maps, records
of said County, and as la'd out
and shown upon a map Tract No.
234, recorded is Boole 13, pages
36 and 37 of Miscellaneous Maps,
records of said county, for its
entire length as shown on said
maps, shall hereafter be called
OCEAN FRONT, and the name
of s a i d street hereinbefore de-
scribed is hereby declared to be
OCEAN FRONT.
Section 2: That certain public
street known as SURF AVENUE,
as said street is laid out and
shown upon a map of East New-
port. recorded in Book 3, page 37
of Miscellaneous Maps, records of
sa'd County, as l a i d o u t and
shown upon a map of the New-
port Bay Tract recorded in Book
4 page 16 of Taiscellaneo ;a .: aps,
records of said county, as laid ml'
and shown upon a map of the
Balboa Tract, recorded i � ; ooic

records of said County, and as
laid out and shown upon a map
of East Side Addition to the Bal-
boat Tract, recorded is Book 4,
page 20 of Miscellaneous Maps,
records of said County, for its
entire length, as shown on said
maps. shall hereafter be called
OCEAN FRONT and the name of
said street bereinbefore described
is hereby declared to be OCEAN
FRONT.
Section 3: That certain public
way fifteen (15) feet in width
being all of Blocks F, G, H, I and
J, as laid out and shown upon
a map of Tract No. 518, recorded
In Book 17, pages 33 to 36 in-
clusive of Miscellaneous Maps,
records of said County, shall
hereafter be called OCEAN
FRONT, and the name of said
public way bereinbefore describ-
ed is hereby declared to be
OCEAN FRONT.
Section 4: That certain public
street known as BAY VIEW
AVENUE, lying between Bay
Avenue and Newport Bay, as Bald
street is laid out and shown upon
a map of Balboa Bayside Tract,
recorded in Book 4, page: 78 of
Miscellaneous Maps, records of
said County, for its entire length,
as sbown on said maps, s h a 11

AVENUE, and the name of said
street bereinbefore described is
hereby declared to be CYPRESS
AVENUE.
Section 5: That certain public
street known as CYPRESS AVE-
NUE, as said street is laid out
and shown upon a map of Sea-
shore Colony Tract, recorded in
Book 7, page 25 of Miscellaneous
Maps, records of said County and
as laid out and shown upon a
map of Tract No. 772, recorded
in Book 23, pages 5 and 6 of
Miscellaneous Maps, records of
said County, shall hereafter be
called Sixty- second Street, and
the name of said street herein -
before described °s hereby declar-
ed to be SIXTY - SECOND
STREET.
Section 6: That certain public
street known as TENTH STREET,
as said street is laid out and
shown upon a map of Tract No.
919, recorded in Book 29, pages
31 to 34 inclusive, and as laid out
and shown upon a map of First
Addition to Newport Heights, re-
corded in Book 4, page 94 of Mis-
cellaneous Maps, records of said
County, for its cat're length, as
shown on said maps, shall here-
after be called AVON STREET,
and the name of said street here -
inbefore described is hereby de-
clared to be AVON STREET.
Section 7: That certain public
street known as OCEAN DRIVE,
lying between Smeltzer Avenue
and Twelfth Street, as said street
is laid out and shown upon a map
of F i r s t Add tion to Newport
Heights, recorded in Book 4, page
94 of Miscellaneous Maps, records
of said County, and lying between.
San Bernardino Avenue and Ir-
vine Avenue, as said street is laid
out and shown upon a map of
Tract No. 919, recorded in Book
29, pages 31 to 34 inclusive of
Miscellaneous ➢laps, records of
said County, shall bereafter be
called CLIFT DRIVE, and. the
name of said street hereinbefore
described is herebv declared to be
CLIFF DRIVE.
SECT !ON 8: Ilhat certain pub-
lic street knovm as OCEAN
DRIVE, lying between San Ber-
nardino Avenue and Riverside
Avenue and northeasterly of Park
W, as said street is laid out and
shown upon a map of First Addi-
tion to Newport Heights, record-
ed in Book 4, page 94 of Miscel-
laneous Maps, records of said
County, shall hereafter be called
BEACON STREET, and the name
of said street bereinbefore de-
scribed is hereby declared to be
BEACON STREET.
SECTION 9: That certain pub -
1'.c street known as TWELFTH
STREET, lying between Old
County Road and Santa Ana Ave-
nue, as said street is laid out and
sbown upon a map of Tract No.
444, recorded in Book 19, page
29 of Miscellaneous Maps, records
of said County, and lying between
Santa Ana Avenue and San Ber-
nardino Avenue, and between Tus-
tin Avenue and Irvine Avenue, as
said street is laid out and abowa
upon a map of First Addition to
Newport Heights, recorded in
Book 4, page 94 of Miscellaneous
Maps, records of said County,
shall hereafter be called BEACON
STREET, and the name of said
street hereinbefore described is
bereby declared to be BEACON
STREET.
Section 10: That certain public
street known as FOURTEENTH
STREET, as said street is laid
out and shown upon a map of
Tract No. 27, recorded in Book 9,
page 26 of Miscellaneous Maps,
records of said County, and as
laid out and shown upon a map
of First Addition to N e w p o r t
Heights, recorded in Book 4, page
94 of Miscellaneous Maps, records
of said County, for its entire
length, as sbown upon said maps,
shall hereafter be called CLAY
STREET, and the name of said
street hereinbefore described is
hereby declared to be CLAY
STREET.
Section 11: That certain public
street known as 'H' STREET, for
its entire length, as laid out and
sbown upon a map of Corona del
Mar, recorded in Book 3, pages
41 and 42 of Miscellaneous Maps,..
records of said County, shall here
afte. be called COVE STREET,
and the name o! said street here -
inbefore described is hereby de-
clared to be COVE STREET.
Section 12: That certain public
street known as 'A' STREET, for
its entire length, a; laid out and
shown upon a map of Corona Del
Mar, recorded in Book 3, pages
41 and 42 of Miscellaneous Maps,
records of said County, shall here-
after be called SHELL STREET,
and the name of said street here -
inbefore described is hereby de-
clared to be SHELL STREET.
Section 13: That certain public
street known as 'R' STREET, for
its entire length, as laid out and
sbowa upon a map of Co :ona Del
Mar, recorded is Book 3, pages
41 and 42 of Miscellaneous Maps,
records of said County, shall here-
after be called ROCK STREET,
and the name of said street here -

clared to be ROCK STREET.
SECTION 14: That certain pub-
lic street known as 'T' STREET,
for its entire length, as laid out
and shown upon a map of Corona
Del Mar, recorded i n Book 3,
pages 41 and 42 of Miscellaneous
Maps, reecrds of s a t d County,
shall hereafte_ be called WAVE
STREET, and the name of said
Street hereinbefore described is
hereby declared to be WAVE
STREET.
Section 15: That certain public
street known M OCEAN AVE-
NUE, lying between Fernleaf
Avenue, formerly 32nd Street, and
Narcissus Avenue, formerly 40th
Street, as said street is laid out
and shown upon a map of Corona
Del Mar, recorded in Book. 3,
pages 41 and 42 of Miscellaneous
Maps, records of said County,
shall hereafter be called SHORE
AVENUE, and the name of said
street bereinbefore described is
hereby declared to be SHORE
AVENUE. I

Section 17: That certain public
street known as CANYON
DRIVE, as described in Resolu-
tion No. 370 of the City Council
lying between Pacific Drive, for-
merly Electric Way, and First
Avenue, formerly 53rd Avenue
and extending through Block 330,
as said Electric Way, 53rd Ave-
nue and Block 330 are laid out
and shown upon a map of'Corona
Del Mar, recorded in Book 3,
pages 41 and .42 of Miscellaneous
Maps, records of said County,
shall hereafter be called CARNA-
TION AVENUE, and the name of
said street hereinbefore described
is hereby declared to be CARNA-
TION AVENUE.
Section 18: lhat certain public
street known as COUNTY ROAD,
as described in deed from Hell-
man Commercial Trust and Sav-
ings Bank to Orange County, re-
corded in Book 282, page 172 of
Deeds, Records of said County,
lying between the southwesterly
prolongation of the northwesterly
line of Avocado Avenue formerly
27th Avenue and Marguerita Ave-
nue, formerly Pier Avenue and
southwesterly of Pacific Drive,
formerly Electric Way, as said
Ave-ues and Way are laid out and
shown upon a map of Corona Del
Afar, recorded in Book 3, pages
41 and 42 of Miscellaneous Maps,
records of said County, shall here-
after be called BAYSIDE DRIVE,
and the name of said street here -
inbefore described is hereby de-
clared to be BAYSIDE DRIVE.
Section 19: That certain public
street known as PACIFIC DRIVE,
formerly Electric Way lying be-
tween the southwesterly prolonga-
tion of the southeasterly line of
Begon'a Avenue, formerly 29th
Avenue, and Marguerite Avenue,
formerly Pier Avenue, as s a i d
street is laid out and shown upon
a map of Corona Del Mar, record-
ed in Book 3, pages 41 and i42 of
Miscellaneous Maps, .records of
said County, shall he:eafter be
called BAYSIDE DRIVE, and the
name of said street hereinbefore
described is hereby declared to be
BAYSIDE DRIVE.
Section 20: The City Clerk shall
cause this Ordinance to be pub-
lished once im the Newport Balboa
News- Times, a newspaper of gen-
eral c'rculation printed, published
and circulated in the City of New-
port Beach, and shall take effect
and be in fcrce thirty (30) days
after its passage.
The above and foregoing Or-
dinauce was introduced at a regu-
lar meeting of the City Council
of tee City of Newport Beach,
held on February 3rd, 1941, and
was finally passed and adopted on
the 17th day of February, 1941,
by said City Council at a regular
adjourned meeting thereof by. the
following vote, to -wit:

NOES, COUNCILMEN: None.
ABSENT, COUNCILMEN:
None.
