ORDINANCE NO. 519
The City of Newport Beach, by
and through its City Council, does
ordain as follows:
' Section 1. Section 52 of Ordi-
nance No. 393 of the City of New-
port Beach is hereby amended to
read as follows:
"Section 52. The rate of license
for conducting a fish marka_t shall
be $25.00 per annum. A fish mar-
ket under this section is defined as
follows: 'An established place of
business where fresh fish and fish
products are sold at retail to the
general public, or where fresh fish
Is sold at wholesale to fresh fish
markets, except, however, a person.
firm or corporation holding a li-
cense hereunder shall not be per-
mitted to sell the species of fish
known as mackerel, except at re-
tail,'
No license shall be granted here-
under except by order of the City
Council of the City of Newport
Beach."
Section 2. A new section is
hereby added to Ordinance No. 393
•
to be known as Section 52%, which
shall read as follows:
"Section 521/2. It is hereby de-
clared unlawful for any person,
firm or corporation to sell or dis-
pofa of fish at retail or wholesale
in the city of Newport Beach un-
less they hold a license for con-
ducting a fish market under the
provisions of Section 1 of this or-
dinance,, or shall have obtained a
license for the canning of fish un-
der Section 53 of Ordinance No.
393 of the City of Newport Beach."

Section 3. Any person violating
any of the provisions of this ordi-
nance shall be deemed guilty of a
misdemeanor and upon conviction
thereof shall be punished by a
fine not exceeding $300.00 or by im-
prisomnent in the City Jail of
the city of Newport Beach for a
period not exceeding ninety (901
days. or by both such fine and
imprisonment.
Section 4. This ordinance shall
be published once in the NEW -
PORT-BALBOA PRESS, a weekly
newspaper printed, published and
circulated in the City of Newport
Beach, and shall take effect and be

in force thirty (30) days after its
passage.
I hereby certify that the forego-
ing ordinance was introduced at a
regular meeting of the City Coun-
cil of the City of Newport Beach
held on the 7th day of December,
1942, and was finally passed and
adopted on the 18th day of Janu-
ary, 1943, by the City Council of
the city of Newport Beach at an
adjourned regular meeting there-
of, by the following vote, to -wit:

KIRK, ISBELL, REED, HALL.
