ORDINANCE ADDING SEC-
TION 10159 TO THE MUNI-
CIPAL CODE OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH, BE-

QUIRING CERTAIN VESSELS
TO CARRY PUBLIC LIABIL-
ITY AND PROPERTY DAM -
AGE INSURANCE, AND PRO-
VIDING A PENALTY FOR,
THE VIOLATION THEREOF.
The City Council of the City of
Newport Beach does ordain as fol-
lows:
SECTION 1: Section 10159 is
hereby added to the Municipal
Code of the City of Newport.
Beach as follows, to -wit:
"Section 10159. Public liability -
and property damage insurance. .
All vessels carrying passengers
for hire, regardless of, the pur -.-
pose for which such passage si
provided, which said vessels use
any of the public piers or docks in
Newport Harbor for the embark-
ing or disembarking of passen-.
gers, shall carry public liability
and property damage insurance
to protect the City of Newport
Beach from any and all claims of '
liability or damage whatsoever
arising out of, growing out of, or
on account of the use of such pub-
lic piers or docks by such passen-
gers and vessels. Such public lia-
bility insurance shall name the
City of Newport Beach as an ad-
ditional insured and shall protect
the City against such lability
claims up to an amount of $50,-
000.00 for any one person's claim
•
and to the sum of $100,000.00 for
the claims of more than one per-
son arising out of the same trans- .
action. Such insurance shall also
protect the City of Newport
Beach against the claims of any
person or persons for damage to.
his or their property up to a sum
of $25,000.00. Failure to carry all
of such insurance shall be deemed'
a misdemeanor.
SECTION 2: This ordinance
shall be published at least once in
the Newport-Balboa Press, a
newspaper of general circulation,
printed and published in the City'
of'Newport Beach, and shall be in,
force and effect thirty (30) days'
after the final passage thereof.
The above and foregoing ordi-
nance was introduced at a regular'
meeting of the City Council of the
City of Newport Beach held on
the 28th day of August, 1950 and.
was finally passed and adopted on
the 11th day of September, 1950'
by the following vote, to -wit:
AYES, Councilmen Greeley,
Blue, Finch.
NOES, Councilmen None.
ABSENT, Councilmen Drake,
Isbell.
