ORDINANCE NO. 801
The City Council of the City of
Newport Beach does ordain as
follows:
SECTION 1: Section 6132a of
Chapter 1 of Article VI of the
Municipal Code of the City of
Newport Beach, entitled "Same.
Penalties." be and the same is
hereby amended to read as fol-
lows:
"Section 6132a. Same. Penal-
ties. That for failure to pay the
license tax due for the fiscal year
1956 -57 on or before the 23rd day
of November, 1956, then a pen.
alty of twenty -five percent of
the license tax due and payable
shall be added thereto; and no
license shall be. issued until such
penalty shall have been paid,
and further, such delinquent
shall be liable for prosecution
in addition to the penalty herein
provided."
SECTION 2: That this ordi-
nance is hereby declared to be
necessary as an emergency mea-
sure for the reason that the City
Council of the City of Newport
Beach is contemplating revising
the license fee schedule of the
Municipal Code of the City of
Newport Beach which will effect
certain businesses within said
city and that unless this ordi.
nance takes effect immediately,
such businesses will be penal-
ized under the existing Munici-
pal Code Section 6132a.
SECTION 3: That this ordi-
nance shall take effect immedi-
ately upon the passage thereof
and shall be published once in
the Newport Harbor Ensign, a
newspaper of general circulation
printed and published and circu-
lated in the City of Newport
Beach.
The above and foregoing ordi-
nance was introduced and
adopted at a regular meeting of
the City Council of the City of
Newport Beach held on the 27th
day of August, 1956, by the fol-
lowing vote, to wit:
AYES, COUNCILMEN: Hart,
Wilder, Stoddard, Ridderhof, Hill.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: MacKay, Higbie.
