Home My WebLink About1306 - Prima Facie Speed LimitsOr ORDINANCE NO. 1 30 6 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH AMENDING SECTION 12.24.020 OF THE NEWPORT BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE AND ADDING SECTION 12.24.049 TO SAID CODE RELATING TO INCREASING PRIMA FACIE SPEED LIMITS The City Council of the City of Newport Beach does ordain as follows: SECTION 1. Section 12.24.020 of the Newport Beach Municipal Code is amended to read: "12.24.DZD Increasing State Speed Limits. It is here yy determined upon the asis ot engineering and traffic surveys that the speed permitted by State law upon the streets or parts thereof described in Sections 12.24.030 through 12.24.049 is less than is necessary for safe operation of vehicles thereon by reason of the nature of the streets, the stop signs on intersecting streets or the wide spacing of intersections, and it is hereby declared that the prima facie speed limit shall be as hereinafter designated on those streets or parts thereof when signs are erected giving notice thereof." SECTION 2. Section 12.24.049 is added to the Newport Beach Municipal Code to read: "12.24.049 Prima Facie Speed Limit -- Fift - five Miles er Hour. The prima facie spee limit on the of owing name streets or parts thereof shall be fifty -five miles per hour. Jamboree Road from Ford Road to Palisades Road." SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be published once in the official newspaper of the City, and the same shall be effective 30 days after the date of its adoption.
