AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH
3 AMENDING SECTION 17.16.020 OF THE NEWPORT.
BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO BOAT
LAUNCHING AND HAULING, ADDING SECTION
17.16.021 PROHIBITING STORAGE OF VESSELS
ON BEACHES, AND REPEALING SECTION 17.32.040
RELATING TO SMALL VESSEL STORAGE AREAS
The City Council of the City of Newport Beach does
ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 17.16.020 of the Newport ,Beach
Municipal Code is amended to read:
"17.16.020 Boat Launching and Hauling. No'person
shall launch or remove any vessel from the waters of
Newport Harbor over any public sea wall, sidewalk, street
end or.public property, except at locations where a
regular business of launching and hauling vessels is
conducted or at launching sites designated by resolution
of the City Council.
The following regulations shall apply to the use of
boat launching sites as designated by the City Council,
and any person violating any of said regulations shall
be guilty of a misdemeanor:
(a) Said boat launching locations may be used only
between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., unless
otherwise specified by resolution of the City Council.
(b) The use of motors on any vessel or watercraft
being launched or recovered shall not be permitted
within 200 feet of such launching sites unless other-
wise specified by resolution of the City Council.
(c) Only hand - carried vessels or watercraft may be
launched from said sites, unless otherwise specified by
resolution of the City Council.

(d) No trailers, dollies, rollers, or other
mechanical devices may be used for purposes of launching
any vessel or watercraft at said locations, or for
transporting them on beaches."
SECTION 2. Section 17.16.021 is added to the Newport
Beach Municipal Code to read:
"17.16.021 .Vessel Storage on Beaches Prohibited.
No person shall store any vessel or watercraft on any
public beach in the City."
SECTION 3. Section 17.32.040 of the Newport Beach
Municipal Code is hereby repealed.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall be published once
in the official newspaper of the City, and the same shall be
effective 30 days after the date of its adoption.
This ordinance was introduced at a regular meeting
of the City Council of the City of Newport Beach held on the
24th day of May , 1971, and was adopted on the
14th day of June
