AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH ADDING SECTION 12.24.130 OF
THE NEWPORT BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE ESTABLISHING
15 MILES PER HOUR AS THE SPEED LIMIT FOR BACK
BAY DRIVE.
•The City Council of the City of Newport Beach does hereby find
as follows: That the portion of Back Bay Drive described in this
Ordinance is situated within an area designated as park and
public open space, is a roadway less than 25 feet in width
and, based on an engineering and traffic survey, a prima facie
speed limit of 15 miles per hour is most appropriate,
reasonable and safe.
The City Council of the City of Newport Beach does hereby
ordain as follows:
SECTION 1: Section 12.24.130 is hereby added to Chapter 12
of the Newport Beach Municipal Code to read:
Section 12.24.130 Prima Facie Speed Limit - Fifteen Miles
• Per Hour.
The prima facie speed limit on the following named street, or part
is
thereof, shall be fifteen miles per hour: Back Bay Drive between
Shellmaker and East Bluff Drive.
SECTION 2: This ordinance was introduced at a regular
meeting of the City Council of the City of Newport Beach, held on
the 8th day of March , 1993, and adopted on the 22nd day of
March , 1993, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES, COUNCILMEMBERS HEDGES, SANSONE
WATT, TURNER, HART, COX, DEBAY
NOES, COUNCILMEMBERS NONE
ABSENT
NONE
