These material(s) were distributed to staff, Commissioners and made available to the public. March 1, 2009 Planning Department City of Newport Beach, Newport Beach CA 92663 Attn: Barry Eaton, Secretary Project File No: PA2009 -014 Activity No: UP200"02 !3Y MAR 17 2009 Location 127 Marine Av., Applicant: Balboa Island Village Inn I am writing this letter and making these comments on behalf of a group of Village Inn neighbors. We, as a group, have chosen to be anonymous considering the repercussions that may occur. Codes and rules do not mean anything to the owner of the Village Inn. This is evident in that the expansion of the bar, inside the establishment, was undertaken without consideration of the City Permit Laws. Our understanding is that the Village Inn does not have a permit to allow dancing. Every Friday, Saturday and especially Sunday the Village Inn is Orange County's premiere Dance Halll There is no control on the noise level, which can be heard a good two blocks away. The drunks outside late at night up to and including closing cause noise, litter and an unsafe environment. There seems to be little or no police patrolling given that this activity has been ongoing, unchecked, for a number of years. Respectfully submitted
