HomeMy WebLinkAbout45 - Ordering Street ImprovementsS yw Resolution of Intention No. A Resolution by the city council of the city of Newport Beach, as the legislative department of the government of said city, declaring that the public interest and convenience requires it, and that it is the intention of the said city council to order work done and improvement made upon certain streets in the city of Newport Beach; referring to the said streets by their official name, brief- ly describing the work to be done and improvement to be made; direct- ing the publication of this Resolution, designating the newspaper for that purpose, and directing the posting of notice of the passage of this Resolution. The city council of the city of Newport Beach, as the legis- lative department of the government thereof, do resolve and declare as follows: jl Resolved, that the public interest and convenience requires it, and that iit is the intention of the city council of the city of Newport Beach to order certain work done and improvement made upon certain streets and portion of ptreets in the city of Newport Beach, which streets and portions of streets are referred to in this Resolu- tion of Intention by their official name. Section 1- Resolved that the streets and portion of streets upon which it is the intention of the city council of the city of Newport Beach to order work done and improvement made, and their official names are as follows, to -wit: Adams street, Alvarado street, Coronado street, Fernando street, and that portion of Bay Avenue which extends in an easterly JWW direction from the egsterly line of said Alvarado street to the westerly line of Rain street. Section 2- Resolved, that the work to be done and improvement to be made on the streets and portion: of Bay Avenue mentioned and deecdib- ed in Section 1 of this Resolution of Intention is hereby briefly described as follows: -1 -2 bordered on the outer or street side thereof with a cement curb six inches thick, provided that on that portion of Bay Avenue which lies between Alvarado street and the westerly line of Fernando street, if edtended southerly the cement sidewalk shall be six feet in width and lying immediately outside of said cement sidewalk there shall be re- served a strip of earth 42 feet in width as a parking space for tiSe- planting of trees and shrubs, which parking space shall be bordered on the street side thereof with a cement curb six inches thick; all of said cement sidewalk shall be constructed along, parallel with and adjoining the property line on said Bay Avenue. All sidewalks shall be constructed as follows: The founda- tion shall be filled in and tamped solid to such a height as when sur- faced by the sidewalk shall conform to the official grade provided for the said streets. The cement surface of the sidewalk shall con- sist of a foundation layer 22" thick of concrete composed of seven parts offine, clean gravel to one part of best Portland cement, and then finished with a layer composed of equal parts of best Portland cement and clean, sharp sand floated and troweled to a true, even surface, sloping towards the streets in the ratio of three - sixteenths of an inch fall to each foot in width of the sidewalk. The curb shall of like concrete consist of a core /10" thick at the base, 6" thick at the top and 15" deep, set with the batter towards the street and the top, when finish- ed, in line with the sloping surface of the sidewalk. Such top and the upper 10" of the batter or street face to be dressed i" thick with the same finish as provided for the surface of the sidewalk. Whenever any portion of the streets and avenue mentioned upon which work is to be done and improvement made shall be inter- sected by a street or alley, then the sidewalk to be constructed i.y '► across such intersecting street or alley shall be considered cross - walks, and shall be reduced or inc #reased in width so that the cross- walks or walks across the intersecting streets and alleys shall be 4 feet in width; and the curb shall not be carried across said inter- secting street or alley but on either side of said intersecting street -3 -V done, and all proceedings had shall be done and had in pursuance of an Act of the Legislature of the State of California designated the "Improvement Act of 1911" approved April 7th, 1911; Section 6- The above and foregoing Resolution of Intention No. 'T �1 was passed and adopted by the Board of Trustees of the city of Newport Beach, as the city council thereof, being the legislative department of the government of said city of Newport Beach, at a // 2t regular meeting thereof held on the 4th day of January, 1915, and on said day was approved by the President of said Board of Trustees the same being passed and adopted by the following vote: Noes, - 1rus-Gees z Absent, Ti 4_ The.aboveand foregoing Resolution of Intention No'. // AL is approved by me this day of January, 1915. �. % _ — President of the Board of Trustees of the city of Newport Beach.
