A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEED OF THE CITY OF hEW-
KRT BEACH, DECLARING THEIR INTENTION TO IMPROVE CERTAIN POR-
TIONS OF THE ALLEY SITUATED BETWEEN SURF AVENUE AND CEP -TRAL
AVENUE IN SAID CITY, FORMING AN ASDESSMK T DISTRICT OF LANDS
TO BE BENEFITED BY APD TO PAY THE COSTS AND EXPENSES OF SAID
PROPOSED IMPROVEMENT.
Be it resolved by the Board of Trustees of the City of
Newport Beach as ollows:
SECTION ONE.
That the public interest and convenience require and the
said Board of Trustees does hereby declare its intention to
order the following work to be done, to wit:
That the Alley situated between Surf Avenue and Central
Avenue, from the westerly line of Washington Street to the
easterly line of Alvarado Street within said City, be graded
for its entire width to the official grade and a surface be
constructed thereupon of Clay and Gravel, including all Street
and alley intersections,(with the exception of any portions
upon which a Clay and Gravel surface had already been construc-
ted),in accordance with Plan No. 254 adopted by Resolution No.
110 of the Board of Trustees of said City, and on file in the
office of the City Engineer of said City, and in further
accordance with Specifications No.23, adopted by Ordinance No.
118 of the Board of Trustees of said City and on file in the
office of the City Clerk of said City.
SECTION TWO
That the said contemplated work or improvement of said
Alley described in Section One hereof, is in the opinion of
the Board of Trustees of said City, of more than local or
ordinary public benefit, said Board hereby makes the expense
of said work or improvement chargeable upon a district, which

district said Board hereby declares to be the district benefited
by said work or improvement, and to be assessed to pay the costs
and expenses thereof; which said district is bounded and
described as follows, to wit:
B eginning at the intersection of the center line of
Alvarado Street and the westerly prolongation of the northerly
line of Block One(1) of a Map of Newport Bay Tract, as record-
ed in Map Book 4, page 16, Records of Orange County, California;
thence easterly in a straight line along the westerly prolong-
ation of the northerly line of the aforesaid Block One(1) and
along the northerly line of said Block One (1) and along the
northerly line of Block 2 of the aforesaid Map if Newport Bay
Tract to the nrothwesterly corner of Lot 1, Block 4 of a Map
of B aoboa Tract, as recorded in Map Book 4,page 11, Records of
Orange County,California; thence easterly in a straight line to
the intersection of the center line of Washington Street and
the easterly prolongation of the northerly line of Block 8 of
the aforesaid Map of Balboa Tract; thence southerly along the
center line of Washington Street to the intersection with the
easterly propongation of the southerly line of the aforesaid
Block d of a Map if the Balboa Tract; thence westerly in a
straight line to the southwesterly corner of Lotll, Block 4,
of the aofresaid Map if the Balboa Tract; thence northwesterly
in a straight line to the southeasterly corner of Lot 9,Block
2 of the aforesaid Map of Newport Bay Tract; thence westerly in
a straight line along the southerly lines of Blocks 1 and 2 of
the aforesaid Map of Newport Bay Tract and along the westerly
prolongation of the southerly line of the a fdresaid Block 1,
to the intersection with the center line of Alvarado Street;
thence northarly along the center lodz of Alvarado Street to
the intersection with the westerly prolongation of the northerly

line of the aforesaid Blook 1, the place of beginning, except-
ing therefrom lands forming any part of any public street or
alley.
SECTION THREE
The City Engineer is hereby directed to make a diagram of
the property affected or benefited by the proposed work or
improvement as described in this Resolution of Intention,a nd
to be assessed to pay the costs and expenses thereof, said
diagram to be made as required by law.
SECTION FOUR
It is hereby determined and notice is hereby given that
any and all Fer:ons having an objection to the proposed work
or improvement above mentioned, may appear before the said
Board of Truatees on the 14th day of July, 1919, at the hour
of 7:3c o'clock p.m. of said day at the regular meeting place
of said Board of Trustees in the City Hall of said City of
Newport Beach, and show cause why said proposed improvement
should not be carried out in accordance with this resolution.
bECTION FIVE
All of the proceediptgs for the aofresaid imrpovement
shall be takne under and in accordance with the provisions of
an Act of the Legislature of the State of California, known and
designated as the "Improvement Act of 191111, and all acts
amendatory thereof.
SECTION S1X
The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this Res-
olution ana shall c ause the same to be published twice in the
Newport News, a weekly newpaper, printed, published and circu-
lated in the said Cite of Newport Beach,(there b (iing no daily
or semi - weekly newspaper so published, printed and circulated
within said City), and which is hereby designated for that
purpose.
