RESOLUTION NO. 944
WHEREAS, the landing at the end of the pier located
opposite McFadden Place in the city of Newport Beach is in bad
repair and condition; and
WHEREAS, said landing is used daily for the loading
and unloading of passengers for charter boats and the barge, and
for other purposes; and
WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the City Council of the
City of Newport Beach that said landing should be repaired
immediately, and said City has not time to advertise for bids
for the doing of said work so contemplated; and
WHEREAS, it is further the opinion of the City Council
that said landing is in a dangerous condition, and that the
loading and unloading of passengers therefrom is hazardous and
dangerous, and by reason thereof an emergency exists.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED; by the City Council
of the city of Newport Beach that the public interest and
necessity demand the immediate expenditure of public money to
safeguard life, health and property in the city of Newport Beach;

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the City Council of the
City of Newport Beach appropriate from the General Fund of the
City of Newport Beach, the sum of � 060, Q0 for the
purpose of building a new landing at the end of the pier opposite
McFadden Place in the city of Newport Beach, Orange County,
California; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the said sum mentioned
in the foregoing paragraph be used for the purpose of paying for
the materials and the labor used or to be used in tife building

1 of a new landing as aforesaid; and
2 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the City Engineer of the
3 City of Newport Beach be, and he is hereby directed to purchase
4 the necessary materials, and hire the necessary labor for the
5 construction and building of a new landing at the end of the pier
6 opposite McFadden Place in the city of Newport Beach, Orange
7 County, California, and to take the place of the old landing on
8 said pier; and
9 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that in view of the emergency
10 which exists at this time, that said materials and labor be
11 furnished immediately, and that there is not time for the adver—
12 tising of bids for the construction of said landing aforesaid.

16 Resolution was duly and regularly passed and adopted by the
17 City Council of the City of Newport Beach, at a special meeting
1s thereof held on the 6th day of April, 1936, by the following
