2 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH ASCERTAINING AND DETERMINING
3 THE PREVAILING RATE OF WAGES TO BE PAID FOR
CONSTRUCTION OF SANITARY SEWER MAINS AND
4 APPURTENANCES, SEWER DISPOSAL PLANT AND APPUR-
TENANCES, SEWER PUFFING STATIONS AND APPURTEN-
5 ANCES, AND OTHER WORK AND IMPROVEMENT, SERVING
6 SAID CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH, CALIFORNIA.
7 WHEREAS, the City Council did, on th _day of
8 , 1936, order the construction of certain sani-
9 Lary sewer mains and appurtenances, sewage disposal plant and
10 appurtenances, sewer pumping stations and appurtenances, and
11 other work, serving the City of Newport Beach, California; and
12 WHEREAS, pursuant to Chapter 397 of the Statutes of
13 1931 of the State of California, it is necessary that the City
14 Council of the City of Newport Beach ascertain and determine
15 the general prevailing rate of wages on public works, and by the
16 provisions of said Act makes it mandatory upon the awarding body
17 of any public contract where the said body subsequently calls
18 for bids for any public improvement, to ascertain and determine
19 the general prevailing rate of per diem wages in the locality in
20 which the work is to be performed, for each craft or type of
21 workman or mechanic needed to execute the contract, and also the
22 general prevailing rate for legal holiday and overtime work for
23 each craft or type of workman or mechanic;
24 NOW, THEREFORE, this City Council of the City of Newport
25 Beach, California, has ascertained and does hereby determine that
26 the general prevailing rate of per diem wages in the locality in
27 which the said work described to be performed in the matter of th
28 construction of Sanitary sewer mains, sewage disposal plant and
29 sewer pumping stations, for each craft or type of workman or
30 mechanic needed to execute the contract, and also the general
31 prevailing rate for legal holiday and overtime work for each
32 craft or type of workman or mechanic as follows:

The foregoing schedule of per diem wages is based upon a
working day of eight (8) hours. The hourly wage rate pres-
cribed hereinabove is the per diem rate divided by the afore-
mentioned number of hours constituting a working day.
For overtime work, one and one -half (1-k) times the
above hourly rates.

Sundays and Holidays (except watchmen and guards),
double the above hourly rates.
Hourly wage rate for foremen shall be at least ten per
cent (10%) higher than the rate per hour for craftsmen under
his supervision.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Newport Beach, California, at a regular � meeting
