RESOLUTION NO. r(L 11 _.
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH ASCERTAINING AND DETERMINING
THE PREVAILING RATE OF WAGES TO BE PAID FOR
CONSTRUCTION OF HARBOR MASTER1S OFFICE.
WHEREAS, the City Council did, on the 7th day of
December, 1936, order the construction of an office building
for the Harbor Master, to be constructed on the public pier
owned by the City of Newport Beach, located on the Bay Front
within the northerly prolongation of Washington Street; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Chapter 397 of the Statutes of
1931 of the State of Calif gpnia, it is necessary that the City
Council of the City of Newport Beach ascertain and determine
the general prevailing rate of wages on public works, and by the
provisions of said Act makes it mandatory upon the awarding body
of any public contract where the said body subsequently calls
for bids for any public improvement, to ascertain and determine
the general prevailing rate of per diem wages in the locality in
which the work is to be performed, for each craft or type of
j workman or mechanic needed to execute the contract, and also the
general prevailing rate for legal holiday and overtime work for
22 each craft or type of workman or mechanic;
23 NOW, THEREFORE, this City Council of the City of Newport
24 Beach, California, has ascertained and does hereby determine tha'
25 the general prevailing rate of per diem wages in the locality in
26 which the said work described to be performed in the matter of t'.
27 construction of an office building for the Harbor Master, for
28 each craft or type of workman or mechanic needed to execute the
29 contract, and also the general prevailing rate for legal holiday
30 and overtime work for each craft or type of workman or mechanic
31 II as follows:

The foregoing
schedule of per diem wages is
based upon a
working day of eight (`8) hours. The hourly wage
rate pres-
cribed hereinabgve
is thel,per diem rate divided by the afore-
mentioned number of
hourk- constituting a working
day.
For overtime work, one -and one -half (12) times the
above hourly rates.
Sundays and Holidays (except watchman and guards),..
double the above hourly rates.
Hourly wage rate for foreman shall be at least ten per
cent (10%) higher than the rate per hour for craftmen under
his supervision.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Newport Beach.. California, at a regular fisted meeting
thereof held on the 7th day of December 1936, by the following
vote, to -wit:
