A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH APPOINTING ELECTION OFFICERS AND
DESIGNATING POLLING PLACES FOR THE MUNICIPAL
ELECTION TO BE HELD IN THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH
ON TUESDAY, THE 9th DAY OF APRIL, 1940, AND PRO-
VIDING FOR THE OPENING AND CLOSING OF THE POLLS
AND THE COMPENSATION OF ELECTION OFFICERS.
WHEREAS, it is necessary under the law for the
City Council of the city of Newport Beach to appoint Boards of
Election and to designate the polling places for the municipal
election to be held in the City of Newport Beach on Tuesday, the
9th day of April, 1940, and to fix the compensation 7,p be paid
to election officers; and
WHEREAS, it is also necessary for the City Council
of the city of Newport Beach to fix the hours for the opening and
closing of the polls for the municipal election to be held on
the 9th day of April, 1940.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by thi City Council
of the city of Newport Beach that th4olling places and the
election officers to act at each polling place shall be as follows,
to -wit:
PRECINCT NO. 1
Polling Place: Mrs. Sadie Roehels Garage,
located in rear of 127 30th
Street, Newport Beach.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That each of said
election officers above designated be paid the sum of J6.00
as full compensation for their services in conducting said
municipal election to be held on Tuesday, the 9th day of April,
1940.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the polls shall be
open at six o'clock A. M. of said dsV, and be kept open contin-
uously until seven o'clock P. M. thereof, when the polls shall
be closed.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the voting precincts
as established by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange
shall contitute the voting precincts for the municipal election
to be held in the City of Newport Beach on Tuesday, the 9th day
of April, 1940, said voting precincts to be numbered One (1) to
Ten (10) inclusive, and shall be designated in all proceedings
herein as "Precinct ".
I hereby certify that the above and foregoing
resolution was duly and regularly passed and adopted by the City
Council of the city of Newport Beach at an adjourned regular
meeting thereof held on the 19th day of February, 1940, by the
following vote, to -wit:
