RESOLUTION N0.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH, FIXING THE RATE PER CENTUM AND
LEVYING A TAX UPON ALL OF THE TAXABLE PROPERTY
WITHIN THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH WHICH IS TAXABLE
THEREIN FOR MUNICIPAL PURPOSES.
The City Council of the city of Newport Beach does
resolve and declare as follows:
1st. Resolved, that there be and is hereby levied upon
all ofthe taxable property within the city of Newport Beach which
is taxable therein for municipal purposes, a tax for the purpose
of raising the necessary money with which to carry on the various
departments of the city of Newport Beach for the current fiscal
year.
2nd. Resolved, that the rate per centum of the tax
hereinafter levied shall be and is hereby fixed as the sum of
One Dollar Six cents ($1.06) on each one hundred dollars of
value designated for each fund as follows:
For the current expense fund.... One Dollar ( 1.00)
For the library fund* ........... Six cents (. .06
Total tax levy......... One Dollar Six cents( 1.06)
3rd. Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes
herein levied for municipal purposes, there is hereby levied on
all of the taxable property within the city of Newport Beach a
tax for the purpose of raising the necessary and sufficient
money to pay the annual interest on all issued, outstanding and
unpaid municipal bonds of the city of Newport Beach, and also
such part of the principal thereof as shall becoTm due before

the time for fixing the next general tax levy in and for said
City, the rate hereby levied for said purposes is fixed at sixteen
cents (16¢) on each one hundred dollars ($100.00) of value, and
the same shall be collected at the same time and in the same manner
as all other municipal taxes are collected excepting upon property
annexed at an election held the 11th day of February, 1924, and
known as Corona Del Mar, provided, that the said taxes herein
levied shall be exclusive of any tax levied for the payment of
interest and principal of $210,000.00 bonds of the city of Newport
Beach issued and sold for the completion of the municipal water
system thereof, and $315,000.00 bonds for the City of Newport Beach
issued and sold for the construction and improvement of jetties
in the city of Newport Beach and known as the Jetty Bonds of 1927,
and $100,000.00 bonds of the city of Newport Beach, for the
acquisition, construction and completion by the city of Newport
Beach, of a certain municipal improvement, to -wit, the improvement
of the municipal harbor by deepening and dredging the channel, and
y the acquisition and construction of various groins for the
19 purpose of controlling the tide and protecting the existing jetties
20 and shore lands, and including for said purpose the acquisition
21 of lands and rights of way, which said bonds are known and
22 designated as Newport Beach Harbor Improvement Bonds of 1929, and
bonds in the amount of $170,000.00 for the acquisition and

construction of a municipal improvement, to -wit, Additions to the
24
municipal sewer system including the acquisition of lands and
25
rights of way, and the acquisition and construction of a main sewer
26
line and discharge sewer lines, a sewage disposal plant, sewage
27
works, pumping plants and buildings and equipment necessary or con -
28
venient for said project, which said sewer bonds are known and
29
designated as Newport Beach Municipal Sewer Bonds of 1936, and
30
bonds in the amount of $130,000.00, of the city of Newport Beach,
31
or the acquisition and construction and reconstruction of two (2)

public piers, including the reconstruction and extension of the
existing piers into the waters of the Pacific Ocean, including
buildings and structures necessary or convenient for said project,
which said bonds are known and designated as Pier Bonds, 1940.
4th. Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes
herein levied for municipal purposes, there is hereby levied on
all of the taxable property within the city of Newport Beach a
tax for the purpose of raising the necessary and sufficient money
to pay the annual interest on $210,000.00 bonds of the city of
Newport Beach, issued and sold for the completion of the municipal
water system thereof, issued, outstanding and unpaid of the City
of Newport Beach, and also such part of the principal thereof as
shall become due before the time for fixing the next general tax
levy in and for said City, and for the further purpose of paying
the annual interest on $315,000.00 bondsof the city of Newport
Beach, issued and sold for the erection and construction of
jetties and the improvement of said jetties, issued, outstanding
and unpaid of the city of Newport Beach, and known as the Jetty
Bonds of 1927, and also such part of the principal thereof as
shall become due before the time of fixing the next general tax
levy in and for said city, and for the further purpose of paying
the annual interest of $100,000.00 bonds of the City of Newport
Beach, issued and sold for the improvement of the harbor of the
City of Newport Beach, and the construction of various groins for
the purpose of controlling the tide and protecting the existing
jetties and shore lands, issued, outstanding and unpaid of the
City of Newport Beach, and known as the Newport Beach Harbor
Improvement Bonds of 1929, and also such part of the principal
thereof, as shall become due before the time of fixing the next
general tax levy in and for said City, and also a tax for the
purpose of raising the necessary and sufficient money to pay the
annual interest on $170,000.00 bonds of the city of Newport Beac

and reconstruction of two (2) public piers, including the
reconstruction and extension of the existing piers into the
waters of the Pacific Ocean, including building and structures
necessary or convenient for said project, which said pier bonds
are known and designated as Pier Bonds, 1940, issued, outstanding
and unpaid of the City of Newport Beach, and also such part of the
principal thereof as shall become due before the time of fixing
the next general tax levy in and for said City.
The rate of tax hereby levied for the purpose of pay
the interest and principal of said water bonds, and said jetty
bonds, and said Newport Beach Harbor. Improvement Bonds of 1929,
and Newport Beach Municipal Sewer Bonds of 1936, and Pier Bonds,
1940, as aforesaid, is hereby fixed at sixty —six cents (66¢) on
each one hundred dollars ($100.00) of value.
5th. Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes
herein levied there is hereby levied on all the taxable property
within the city of Newport Beach a tax of ten cents (10¢) on each

one hundred dollars ($100.00) for advertising purposes, pursuant
to the provisions of Ordinance No. 144 submitted to and carried
by a majority of the votes of all the voters voting at an election
held for the purpose of voting far or against said Ordinance on
the 24th day of September, 1918.
6th. Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes
herein levied, there is hereby levied on all of the taxable
property within the city of Newport Beach, a tax of three cents
(3¢) on each one hundred dollars ($100.00) of assessed valuation
for park purposes pursuant to the provisions of Ordinance No. 380
of the city of Newport Beach, submitted to and carried by a
majority of the votes of all the voters voting atan election held
for the purpose of voting for or against said Ordinance on the
28th day of May, 1930.
7th. Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes
herein levied, there is hereby levied on all of the taxable
property within the Municipal Improvement District No. 1 of the
City of Newport Beach,a tax of one cent (1¢) on each one hundred
dollars ($100.00) of assessed valuation for the payment of
semi — annual interest on and the redemption of the bonds of said
district.
8th. Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes
herein levied, there is hereby levied on all of the taxable
property within Municipal Improvement District No. 2 of the City
of Newport Beach, a tax of eleven cents (11¢) on each one hundred
dollars ($100.00) of assessed valuation for the payment of semi-
annual interest on and the redemption of the bonds of said distric
9th. Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes
herein levied, there is hereby levied on all of the taxable
property within Municipal Improvement District No. 3 of the city
of Newport Beach, a tax of twenty —seven cents (27¢) on each one
hundred dollars ($100.00) of assessed valvation,for the payment of
semi— annual interest on and the redemption of the bonds of said
district.

10th. Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes
herein levied, there is hereby levied on all of the taxable
property within Municipal Improvement District No. 4 of the city
of Newport Beach, a tax of twenty cents (20,) on each one hundred
dollars ($100.00) of assessed valuation for the payment of semi-
annual interest on and the redemption of the bonds of said
district.
11th. Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes
herein levied, there is hereby levied on all ofthe taxable
property within Municipal Improvement District No. 7 of the city
of Newport Beach, a tax of twenty cents (20¢) on each one hundred
dollars ($100.00) of the assessed valuation for the payment of
semi— annual interest on and the redemption of the bonds of said
district.
12th. Delinquencies having occurred in the payment
of assessments and interest thereon for the work done and improve-
ments made in the city of Newport Beach, pursuant to the following
resolutions:
Resolution of Intention No. 304, passed, adopted and
approved on the 26th day of November, 1924;
Resolution of Intention No. 370, passed, adopted and
approved on the 15th day of March, 1926;
Resolution of Intention No. 396, passed, adopted and
approved on the 1st day of November, 1926.
The property upon which the assessments and interest

were a lien having, on account of said delinquencies, been sold
to the city of Newport Beach, and there being no available funds
in the treasury of the City of Newport Beach with which to pay
the delinquent assessments and delinquent interest thereon, and
the tax collector having made demand on the City Council that a

1 suitable amount be included in the tax levy of 1940 -1941 for the
2 purpose of providing funds with which to make such payments,
3 there is hereby levied, pursuant to the demand of the tax collecto
4 of the city of Newport Beach, to take care of delinquencies for
5 improvements made, pursuant to Resolution of Intention No. 304,
6 on each one hundred dollars ($100.00) of assessed value, of
7 real and personal property in the city of Newport Beach therein
8 taxable for municipal purposes, the sum of ten cents (10�) for
9 the purpose of making payments on principal and interest on the
10 bonds issued to pay the costs of saff improvement; there is
11 hereby levied, pursuant to the demand of the tax collector of the
12 City of Newport Beach, to take care of delinquencies for improve-
13 ments made, pursuant to Resolution of Intention No. 370, on each
one hundred dollars ($100.00) of assessed value, of real and
14
personal property in the City of Newport Beach, therein taxable
15
for municipal purposes, the sum of ten cents (10�) for the purpose
16
of making payments on principal and interest on the bonds issued
17
to pay the cost of said improvement; there is hereby levied,
18
pursuant to the demand of the tax collector of the city of Newport
19
Beach , to take care of delinquencies for improvements made, pur-
20
suant to Resolution of Intention No. 396, on each one hundred
21
dollars ($100.00) of assessed value, of real and personal propert;
22
in the City of Newport Beach therein taxable for municipal pur-
23
doses, the sum of ten cents (10�) for the purpose of making
24
payments on principal and interest on the bonds issued to pay
25
the costsof said improvement.

13th. Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes
27
herein levied, there is hereby levied on all of the taxable
28
lands within the assessment district created by Resolution of
29
Intention No. 622 of the city of Newport Beach, in the matter
30 of Acquisition and Improvement District No. 1 of the city of
31 Newport Beach, a levy of special assessment taxes of two dollars
32
($2.00) on each $100.00 of the total assessed value of said lands

within said district, exclusive of the improvements thereon, for
the purpose of creating a special fund for the payment of prin-
cipal and interest on bonds issued in accordance with law, and
the said Resolution of Intention No. 622 of the city of Newport
Beach, in the matter of Acquisition and Improvement District No.
1 of the city of Newport Beach.
The above and foregoing Resolution was passed,
adopted and approved by the City Council of the city of Newport
Beach at a regular meeting thereof held on the 2nd day of
September, 1940, by the following vote, to —wit:
