RESOLUTION NO.
WHEREAS, George Robinson has made application to the City
Council of the City of Newport Beach for a cancellation of taxes
on the boat "Dickie Due" No. 27 D -724, owned by him on the first
Monday in Larch, 1942, and docked in the city of Newport Beach,
Orange County, California, on said last mentioned date; and
WHEREAS, the said George Robinson has represented to the
City Council of the city of Newport Beach that said boat "Dickie
Due" has been chartered by the United States Navy for the duration
of the war, and that he is receiving no compensation for this
charter from the United States Government; and
WHEREAS, said George Robinson has asked for a cancellation
of taxes on said boat "Dickie Due" for the reason that it is now
property owned by the United States Government; and
WHEREAS, Sections 4986 and 4986.2 of the California
Statutes of 1941, provide in substance that all or any portion
of any uncollected tax, penalty or costs heretofore or hereafter
levied, may, on satisfactory proof, be cancelled by the officer
having custody of the records of the City on order of the
governing body of the city with the written consent of the City
Attorney, on property acquired after the lien date by the United
States of America; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach has
obtained satisfactory proof of the fact that said boat "Dickie Due
was on or about
chartered to the Navy Department
of the United States Government, and the United States Government
now has sole custody and control of said boat and will continue
to have sole custody and control of said boat for the duration
of the war; and
AREAS, it likewise appearing that the City Council of the
City of Newport Beach has the right under the Statutes aforesaid

1 to cancel any portion of the tax lien on said boat "Dickie Due"
2 by reason of the facts aforesaid, and that the City Attorney of
3 the City of Newport Beach has consented to such cancellation.
4 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Auditor of the
5 City of Newport Beach be, and he is hereby authorized, directed
6 and instructed to cancel 500 of the taxes now due and owing from
7 George Robinson to the city of Newport Beach on the boat "Dickie
S 1 Due" for the fiscal year 1942 -1943.

10 I hereby certify that the above and foregoing resolution
11 was duly and regularly passed and adopted by the City Council of
12 the City of Newport Beach at a regular meeting thereof held on the
13 3rd day of May, 1943, by the following vote, to -wit:

DICBIE DUE, as provided for in the above and foregoing resolution.
