Home My WebLink About2796 - Weed Abatement1 RESOLUTION NO, _ 2 3 The City Council of the City of Newport Beach does resolve • 4 as follows, to—wit- 5 Section 1: Pursuant to the provisions of an act of the 6 Legislature of the State of California, entitled "An Act 7 Authorizing Municipalities to Declare Noxious or Dangerous Weeds 8 Growing upon the Streets or Sidewalks, or upon Private Property 9 within Municipalities to bd a Public Nuisance creating a Lien 10 upon the property fronting upon such streets or sidewalks or 11 upon the which such nuisance exists for the cost of abating the 12 same, approved May 26, 1915," and amendments thereto, the City 13 Council of the City of Newport Beach hereby determines and 14 declares that weeds which bear seeds of a wingy or downy nature, 15 or attain such a large growth as to become a fire menace when 16 dry, and which are noxious and dangerous, are growing upon 17 certain streets, sidewalks and private property in said city, 18 and that the property fronting upon such streets or sidewalks 19 or upon or in front of which such nuisance exists are particular - 20 ly described in the statement annexed to this resolution, which 21 statement is marked Exhibit "A" and by reference thereto is 22 made a part of this resolution, to the same extent and purpose 23 as if said statement were incorporated herein word for word. 24 Section 2: The City Council of the City of Newport Beach 25 declares that the weeds on the property mentioned in Section 1 26 hereof, are a public nuisance and should be abated in the 27 manner provided for by law. 28 Section 3: The Street Superintendent of the City of Newport 29 Beach is hereby instructed to prepare and post notices to destroy 30 said weeds as required by law, and in said notice shall state 31 that all property owners having any objections to the proposed 32 LAW OFFICES OF ROLAND THOMPSON 210 SPURGEON BLDG. l SANTA ANA. CALIF. 0 I K A- 1 removal of such weeds are hereby notified to attend a meeting 2 of the City Council of the City of Newport Beach to be held 3 Monday, the 5th day of July, 1943, at the hour of four o'clock 4 P; M. of said day, at the City Council room located in the City 5 Hall, Newport Beach, California, when their objections will be 6 heard and given due consideration.
