RESOLUTION N0. c)
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH, FIXING THE RATE PER CENTUM AND
LEVYING A TAX UPON ALL OF THE TAXABLE PROPERTY
WITHIN THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH WHICH IS TAXABLE
THEREIN FOR MUNICIPAL PURPOSES.
The City Council of the City of Newport Beach does
�I resolve and declare as follows:
First: Resolved, that there be and is hereby levied
upon all of the taxable property within the city of Newport Beach
which is taxable therein for municipal purposes, a tax for the
purpose of raising the necessary money with which to carry on the
various departments of the City of Newport Beach for the current
fiscal year.
2nd. Resolved, that the rate per centum of the tax
hereinafter levied shall be and is hereby fixed as the sum of
One Dollar six cents ($1.06) on each one hundred dollars of value
designated for each fund as follows:
For current expense fund..One Dollar (01.00)
For the library fund...... Six cents ($ .06)
Total tax levy, One Dollar six cents ($1.06)
3rd. Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes
herein levied for municipal purposes, there is hereby levied on
all of the taxable property within the city of Newport Beach, a
tax for the purpose of raising the necessary and sufficient money
to pay the annual interest on all issued, outstanding and unpaid
municipal bonds of the city of Newport Beach, and also such part
of the principal thereof as shall become due before the time for
fixing the next general tax levy in and for said city, the rate
hereby levied for said purposes is fixed at eight cents (80) on

111 each one hundred dollars ($100) of value, and the same shall be
2 collected at the same time and in the same manner as all other
3 municipal taxes are collected, excepting upon property annexed
4 at an election held the 11th day of February, 1924, and known as
5 Corona Del Mar, provided, that the said taxes herein levied
6 shall be exclusive of any tax levied for the payment of interest
7 and principal of $170,000.00 bonds of the city of Newport Beach
8 issued and sold for the completion of the municipal water system
9 thereof, and $255,000.00 bonds for the City of Newport Beach
10 issued and sold for the construction and improvement of jetties
11 in the city of Newport Beach and known as the Jetty Bonds of 1927,
12 and $60,000.00 bonds of the city of Newport Beaoh, for the
13 acquisition, construction and completion by the city of Newport
14 Beach of a certain municipal improvement, to —wit, the improvement
15 of the municipal harbor by deepening and dredging the channel,
16 and by the acquisition and construction of various groins for the
17 purpose of controlling the tide and protecting the existing jetties
18 and shore lands, and including for said purpose the acquisition of
19 lands and rights of way, which said bonds are known and designated
20 as Newport Beach Harbor Improvement Bonds of 1929, and bonds in
21 the amount of $130,000.00 for the acquisition and construction
22 of a municipal improvement, to —wit, additions to the municipal
23 sewer system including the acquisition of lands and rights of way,
24 1 and the acquisition and construction of a main sewer line and
25 discharge sewer lines, a sewage disposal plant, sewage works,
26 pumping plants and buildings and equipment necessary or convenient
27 for said project, which said sewer bonds are known and designated
28 as Newport Beach Municipal Sewer Bonds of 1936, and bonds in the
• 29 amount of $106,000.00 of the City of Newport Beach, for the
30 acquisition and construction and reconstruction of two (2) public
31 piers, including the reconstruction and extension of the existing

(piers into the waters of the Pacific Ocean, including buildings and
structures necessary or convenient for said project, which said
(bonds are known and designated as Pier Bonds, 1940.
4th. Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes
herein levied for municipal purposes, there is hereby levied on all
of the taxable property within the city of Newport Beach a tax for
the purpose of raising the necessary and sufficient money to pay
the annual interest on $170,000.00 bonds of the city of Newport
(Beach, issued and sold for the completion of the municipal water
system thereof, issued, outstanding and unpaid of the city of
Newport Beach, and also such part of the principal thereof as
shall become due before the time for fixing the next general
tax levy in and for said city, and for the further purpose of
paying the annual interest on $255,000.00 bonds of the city of
Newport Beach, issued and sold for the erection and construction
of jetties and the improvement of said jetties, issued, outstanding
and unpaid of the City of Newport Beach, and known as the 3'etty
Bonds of 1927, and also such part of the principal thereof as
shall become due before the time of fixing the next general tax
levy in and for said city, and for the further purpose of paying
the annual interest of $60,000.00 bonds of the city of Newport
Beach, issued and sold for the improvement of the harbor of the
city of Newport Beach, and the construction of various grcins
for the purpose of controlling the tide and protecting the existing
jetties and shore lands, issued, outstanding and unpaid of the city
of Newport Beach, and known as the Newport Beach Harbor improvement
Bonds of 1929, and also such part of the principal thereof, as
shall become due before the time of fixing the next general tax
levy in and for said city, and also a tax for the purpose of raising
the necessary and sufficient monsy to pay the annual interest on
$130,000.00 bonds of the city of Newport Beach, issued and sold
for the acquisition and construction of a municipal improvement,

acquisition of lands and rights of way, and the acquisition and
�lconstruction of a main sewer line and discharge lines, a sewage
disposal plant, sewage works, pumping plants and buildings and
equipment necessary or convenient for said project, which said
sewer bonds are known and designated as Newport Beach Municipal
Sewer bonds of 1936, issued, outstanding and unpaid of the City
lof Newport Beach, and also such part of the principal thereof as
shall become due before the time of fixing the next general tax
levy in and for said city, and also a tax for the purpose of
raising the necessary and sufficient money to pay the annual in—
Merest on $106,000.00 bonds of the city of Newport Beach, issued
land sold for the acquisition and construction of a municipal
improvement, to —wit, the acquisition, construction and recon-
struction of two (2) public piers, including the reconstruction
land extension of the existing piers into the waters of the Pacific
10cean, including buildings and structures necessary or convenient
for said project, which said pier bonds are known and designated
as Pier Bonds, 1940, issued, outstanding and unpaid of the city
of Newport Beach, and also such part of the principal thereof as
shall become due before the time of fixing the next general tax
levy in and for said city.
The rate of tax hereby levied for the purpose of paying
the interest andprincipal of said water bonds, and said jetty
bonds, and said Newport Beach Harbor Improvement Bonds of 1929 ,
and Newport Beach Municipal Sewer Bonds of 1936, and Pier Bonds,
1940, as aforesaid, is hereby fixed at forty —seven cents (47¢) on
each one hundred Dollars ($100) of value.
5th. Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes
herein levied there is hereby levied on all the taxable property
within the City of Newport Beach, a tax of eight cents (8¢) on
each one hundred dollars ($100) for advertising purposes, pursuant

to the provisions of Ordinance No. 144 submitted to and carried by
a majority of the votes of all the voters voting at an election
held for the purpose of voting for or against said ordinance on
the 24th day of September, 1918.
6th. Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes
herein levied, there is hereby levied on all of the taxable
property within the city of Newport Beach a tax of three cents (34
on each one hundred dollars.($100) of assessed valuation, for park
puproses, pursuant to the provisions of Ordinance No. 380 of the
city of Newport Beach, submitted to and carried by a majority of
the votes of all voters voting at an election held for the purpose
of voting for or against said ordinance on May 28, 1930.
7th. Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes
herein levied, there is hereby levied on all of the taxable proper-
ty within Municipal Improvement District No. 1 of the city of
Newport Beach, a tax of two cents (2¢) on each one hundred dollars
($"100) of assessed valuation for the payment of semi — annual
Interest on and the redemption of the bonds of said district.
8th. Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes
herein levied, there is hereby levied on all of the taxable
property within Municipal Improvement District No. 2 of the city
of Newport Beach, a tax of nine cents (9¢) on each one hundred
dollars ($"100) of assessed valuation for the payment of semi-
annual interest on and the redemption of the bonds of said district.
9th. Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes
herein levied, there is hereby levied on all of the taxable
property within Municipal Improvement District No. 3 of the city
of Newport Beach, a tax of sixteen cents (160) on each one
hundred dollars ($100) of assessed valuation, for the payment
of semi — annual interest on and the redemption of the bonds of said
district.

1 10th, Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes
2 herein levied, there is hereby levied on all of the taxable
3 property within Municipal Improvement District No. 7 of the city
4 of Newport Beach, a tax of twenty cents (20¢) on each one hundred
5 dollars ($100) of the assessed valuation for the payment of semi -
6 annual interest on and the redemption of the bonds of said district.
7 11th. Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes
8 herein levied, there is hereby levied on all of the taxable lands
9 within the assessment district created by Resolution of Intention
10 No. 622 of the city of Newport Beach, in the matter of Acquisition
11 and Improvement District No. 1 of the city of Newport Beach, a
12 levy of special assessment taxes of Two Dollars ($"2.00) on each
13 $100.00 of the total assessed value of said lands within said
14 district, exclusive of the improvements thereon, for the purpose
15 of creating a special fund for the payment of principal and
16 interest on bonds issued in accordance with lar, and the said
17 Resolution of Intention No. 622 of the city of Newport Beach,
18 in the matter of Acquisition and Improvement District No. 1 of the
19 city of Newport Beach.
20 The above and foregoing resolution was passed, adopted
21 and approved by the City Council of the city of Newport Beach, at
22 a regular meeting thereof held on the 5th day of September, 1944,
23 by the following vote, to —rit:
