A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEttPORT BELCH, FIXING -UN BATE PER CINTUM AHD
LEVYING A TAX UPON ALL "or THE TAXABLE PROPERTY
WITHIN THE CITY OF XWORT BEACH WHICH IS TAXABLE
THEREIN FOR MUNICIPAL PURPOSES.

The City Council of the City of Newport Beach does resolve and
declare as followst
FIRST% Resolvedo that there be and is hereby levied upon all of
the taxable property within the City of Newport Beach which is taxable therein
for municipal purposes, a tax for the purpose of raising the necessary money
with which to carry on the various departments of the City of Newport Beach
for the current fiscal year 1949^50.
$EOONDt Resolved, that the rate per centum of the tax hereinafter
levied shall be and is hereby fixed as the sum of ninety cents ($.90) on
each one hundred: dollars of value designated for each fund as follows:
For current ensues funds. Eighty —five cents ($.85)
For the Library Fandt Five cents ($.05)
Total Tax Levy: Ninety cents ($.90)
THIRD: Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes herein levied
for municipal purposes, there is hereby levied on all of the taxable property
within the City of Newport Beach, a tax for the purpose of raising the
necessary and sufficient money to pay the annual interest on all issued,
outstanding, and napaid munioipat bonds of the City of Newport Beach, and
also such part of the principal thereof as shall become due before the time
for fixing the next general tax levy in and for said City, the rate hereby
levied for said purposes is fixed at one cent (1$) on each One Hundred
Dollars ($100) of value, and the same shall be collected at the same time
and in the same manner as all other municipal taxes are collected, excepting
upon property annexed on and after the 11th day of February, 1924, prodded,
that the said taxes Aerein above levied shall be exclusive of any tax levied f
the payment of interest and principal of $120,000 bonds of the City of Newport
Beach issued and sold for the completion of the municipal water system thereof

1 and $180,000 bonds for the City'afftrport Beach issued and sold for the
2 construction and improvement of fatties in the City of Newport Beach and
3 known as the Jetty Bonds of 1927= and $100000 bonds of the City of Newport
4 Beach for the acquisition, construction, and completion by the City of Newport
Se ch of a certain municipal improvement, to -wit, the improvement of the municipal
6 I harbor by deepening and dredging the channel, and by the acquisition and con-
7 struction of various groins for the purpose of controlling the tide and
8 protecting the existing jetties and shore lands, and including for said
9 purpose the acquisition of lands and rights of way, which said bonds are
10 ( known and designated as Newport Beach Harbor Improvement Bonds of 19291 and
11 I bonds in the amount of $80,000 for the acquisition and construction of a
12 municipal improvement, to -wit, additions to the municipal sewer system in-
13 cluding the acquisition of lands and rights of way, and the amplaition and
14 construction of a main sewer line and discharge sewer lines, a sewage dis-
15 pcsal plant, sewage works, pumping plants and buildings and equipment nscesssr�
16 or convenient for said project, which said sewer bonds are known and desig-
17 sated as Newport Beach Municipal Sewer Bonds of 1935; and bonds in the amount
18 of $76,000 of the City of Newport Beach, for the acquisition and construction
19 and reconstruction of two (2) public piers, including the reconstruction and
20 extension of the existing piers into the waters of the Pacific Ocean, in-
21 cluding buildings and structures necessary or convenient for said project,
22 which said bonds are designated and known as Pier Bonds, 1940.
23 FOURTH$ Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes herein a'
24 bone levied for municipal purposes, there is hereby levied on all of the
25 I taxable property within the City of Newport Beach, excepting upon property
26 annexed an and after November 1, 1943, a tax for the purpose of raising the
27 necessary and sufficient money to pay the annual interest on $120,000 bonds of
28 the City of Newport Beach, issued and sold for the completion of the municipal
29 water system thereof, issued, outstanding and unpaid for the City of Newport
30 Beach, also such part of the principal thereof as shall become due before
J1 the time of fixing the next general tax levy in and for said City: and for
32 the purpose of paying the annual interest of $180,000 bonds of the City

of Newport Beach, issued and sold for the erection and aonstruation of
jetties and the improvement of said jetties, issued, outstanding and unpaid
of the City of Newport Beach, and known as the Jetty Bonds of 1927, and also
such part of the principal thereof as shell became due before the time of
fix the next general tax levy in and for said oitys and for the further purpose
of paying the annual interest of $10f000 bonds of the City of Newport Beach....

for said oityt and also a tax for the purpose of raising the necessary and
sufficient money to pay the annual interest on $806000 bonds of the City.of
Newport Beach, issued and sold for the acquisition and construction of a
municipal improvement, to —wit, additions to the municipal sewer system in-
oluding the acquisition of lands and rights —of -vat's and the acquisition and
eonstrac4ion of a main sewer line and discharge lines, a sewer disposal plants
sewage works, pumping plants and building and equipment necessary or convenient
for said project, which said sewer bonds are known and designated as Newport
Beach Municipal Sewer Bonds ot'1936, issued, outstanding and unpaid of the
City of Newport Beach, and also such part of the principal thereof as shall
become due before the time of fixing the nopt general tax levy in and for
said city; and also a tax for the purpose of raising the necessary and
sufficient money to pay the annual interest on $76,000 bonds of the City of'.
Newport Beach, issued and sold for the acquisition and construction of a
municipal improvement, to —wit, the soquisition, construction and reconstruction
of two (2) public piers, including the reconstruction and extension of the
existing piers into the waters of the Pacific Ocean, including buildings and
structures necessary or convenient for said project, which said pier bonds
are known and designated as Pier Bonds, 1940, issued, outstanding and unpaid
of the City of Newport Beach, and also such part of the principal thereof as

3 The rate of tax levied for 08 purpose of paying the in-
4 terest and principal of said mater bonds, and said jetty bonds, and said
5 Newport Beach Harbor Improvement Bonus of 1929, and Newport Beach Municipal
6 Sewer Bonds of 1935, and Pier Bonds, °1940, as aforesaid, is hereby fixed at
7 twenty cents (2* on each One Hundred Dollars ($100) of value.
8 7IH482 Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes herein
9 above levied there is hereby levied on all the taxable property within the Ci%
10 I of Newport Beach. a tax of six cents (60) on each one Hundred Dollars ($100)
11 for advertising purposes, pursuant to the provision of Ordinance No. 144
12 I submitted to and.carried by a majority of the votes of all the voters voting
13 at an election held for the purpose of voting for m against said ordinance on
14 11 the 24th day of September, 1918.
15 SIXTHt Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes herein
16 above levied, there is hereby levied on till of the taxable property within the
17 City of Newport Beach a tax of three cents (30) on saoh One Hundred Dollars
18 ($100) of assessed valuation, for park purposes, pursuant to the provisions of
19 Ordinance No. 380 of the City of Newport Beach, submitted to and carried by a
20 . of the votes of all voters voting at an election held for the purpose of votiry
21 for or against said ordinance on May 28, 1938.
22 SXVMTHt Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes herein
23 above levied, there is hereby levied on all of the taxable property within
24 Municipal Improvement District No. 2 of the, City d Newport Beach, a tax of
25 five cents (50) on each one hundred dollars ($100) of assessed valuation for
26 I the pati meat of semi - anneal interest on and the redemption of the bonds of said
27 district.
28 EIOHTHt Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes herein
29 above levied, there is hereby levied on all of the taxable property within
30 Municipal Improvement District No. 3 of the City of Newport Beach, a tax of to
31 cents (100) on each one Hundred Dollars ($100) of assessed valuation, for the
32 payment of semi - annual interest on and the redemption of the bonds of said
district.

City of Newport Beach a tax of tea cents (100) on each One Hundred Dollars
v'rt ($100), said amount being sufficient to raise the amount estimated by the City
�ditineil of the City of Newport Beach to be required to provide sufficient
revenge to meet the obligation of the City to the Retirement System under
Section $8-a of the "State Employees Retirement Act", Statures of 1931, Pao
1442, and amendments thereto, sm well as sufficient under sub- section $ of
Section 38«0 of the same Act, and said rate of taxation is in additiea to the
annual rate of taxation allowed by law to be levied in the City of Newport
Beach.
The above and foregoing Resolution was passed. s ted. and
approved by the City Council of the City of Newport Beach, at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 22nd. day of August 1949, by the following vote.
